The fae being genuinely, terrifyingly fae. Bonus points for anything that would be soundtracked by Hozier or Florence #mswl

not a week goes by that I don’t think about this painting. the human feet. the shawl. the smoke rising from the chimney. the crevice in the tree. the way the grass looks like waves I can almost hear it. whatever this kind of horror is, I want it #MSWL
thinking of how stephen graham jones wrote about the beauty and motion in basketball (with heightened stakes around a game of pick up) and how much i wanted to keep reading those moments of the only good indians....hELLO!!!!!! #MSWL
For more details, specifics, & fave comps, check out my full MSWL. If you know my taste, much of this will be familiar—but hopefully still exciting. 😉 Agents, I’m always happy to catch-up and chat if it’s been awhile—or for the first time!
GENRES (2/2):
I want to see even more:
• Fantasy/sci-fi/speculative! (Yes, the whole spectrum, from magical realism to epic/high/hard)
• Myth/folklore!
• (Queer) romance!
• Mystery!
• Historical!
GENRES (1/2):
I approach genre as a tool for positioning & a context that authors are in conversation with. I love stories that blend, complicate, or reimagine the boundaries of their genre(s)!
But I’m usually NOT the best fit for dystopian, horror, or thrillers/pure suspense.
FORMATS:
I just did the deal for books 12 & 13 in my first 12 months as an S&S editor (🎉)—and many of them are picture books! (My first & forever love.)
So this year, I’m especially eager to acquire more MG and YA: novels/verse, graphics, nonfiction.

I’m doing a panel on #MSWL at MCM tomorrow so here’s my top item. UK horror authors, come to me! The Titan list is phenomenally good, and I want more homegrown talent to join it.
Anything from soft-touch supernatural/uncanny to eldritch octopus parasites ripping the skies open.
