There's so much to love about #TurningRed but one of the many things it does well is explore puberty for girls in a really engaging way. I desperately want to see this in the MG space, give me books that deal with puberty for girls in all its awkward and funny ways #MSWL
I'm no longer tired post-Covid and I am hungry for amazing, complex, propulsive storytelling that reflects the world around us, YA and adult fiction. (Agented only) #MSWL
#MSWL (agented only) - YA or adult - novels that can be comped to shows like Never Have I Ever, It's Okay to Not Be Okay, Jane the Virgin, Bridgerton, Sex Education
#MSWL (agented only) - adult - big, book club fiction about complex relationship dynamics (family, friendships, romance), forever holding out for a great, big family saga (like Pachinko)
#MSWL (agented only) - YA / adult romance, would love a fun workplace romance, enemies to lovers always, grumpy/sunshine, heart breaking but hopeful, joyful, fresh takes on time honored tropes
#MSWL (agented only) - YA and adult - Gothic horror or fantasy, would love a fantasy that reads like a fun romp (like This Vicious Grace), vampires, witches, morally gray characters

I am pro-short story collections that are thematic of region/place & immerses a reader into an underrepresented community in our literary ecosystem (see: Maxine Clair, Bryan Washington, Kali Fajardo-Anstine) (7/8)
& I love the complexities of multigenerational or familial relationships, especially when sharp prose is brought to the forefront of these narratives. (6/8)
Stories that create or contribute to larger conversations about society excite me, especially ones that incorporate the ramifications of systemic inequalities (like the school-to-prison pipeline) within a community–both in the US or on a global scale. (4/8)
Fiction that’s ambitious in its scope, something that’s willing to sit at the intersection of multiple themes in a way that feels accessible, yet complex. (3/8)
Stories that center nuanced + dynamic characters. I think of work that has a combination of humor + heart (like Insecure or Abbot Elementary) and uses stylistic elements (like voice, POV, structure) to create a compelling narrative (2/8)
