I am pro-short story collections that are thematic of region/place & immerses a reader into an underrepresented community in our literary ecosystem (see: Maxine Clair, Bryan Washington, Kali Fajardo-Anstine) (7/8)

& I love the complexities of multigenerational or familial relationships, especially when sharp prose is brought to the forefront of these narratives. (6/8)

Stories that center nuanced + dynamic characters. I think of work that has a combination of humor + heart (like Insecure or Abbot Elementary) and uses stylistic elements (like voice, POV, structure) to create a compelling narrative (2/8)
