#MSWL My narrative non-fiction taste is like obscenity: I know it when I see it. Always have an eye out for pop culture, wilderness and adventure stories, pop psychology, investigative crime nonfiction. If you have the next WE KEEP THE DEAD CLOSE, I want it and I need it.

#MSWL In YA: Ever on the hunt for my light-hearted Jewish rom-com. Particularly interested in the trend toward more traditional mysteries (see TRULY DEVIOUS, GOOD GIRLS, ACE OF SPADES) with a strong investigative drive. Always have room for smart, high-concept contemp retellings.

#MSWL big-hearted, body-positive, representative rom-coms that tackle the ugly and beautiful bits of love with humor. As always, very interested in leads who do not lose weight to find love. As always, very interested in canine co-stars. See: FLOAT PLAN, ONE TO WATCH, Emily Henry

#MSWL Brilliantly crafted, tightly plotted mysteries where the writing is as satisfying as the twists. This can range from more commercial—Riley Sager, Lucy Foley, Paula Hawkins—to the more literary end of the spectrum—Tana French, Megan Abbott, Gillian Flynn. Character is key.

#MSWL Still want my BEARTOWN! Drop me in the middle of a tight-knit community facing a reckoning and shape the conflict through the whispers of neighbors and friends. Get me so invested in the characters that I start to care about sports! Surprise me! See: LITTLE FIRES EVERYWHERE

#MSWL Clever social satire that takes us behind the curtain of worlds of privilege and skewers them with a sharp wit and kickass protagonist. Would love to see more social horror that applies thriller/horror tropes. See: NOTHING TO SEE HERE, SUCH A FUN AGE, OTHER BLACK GIRL

#MSWL coming of age stories that flirt with danger, suspense, and death. Juicy adult novels that explore the sinister side of friendships, relationships, and lost innocence (bonus points for alternating timelines). See: THE GIRLS, MY DARK VANESSA, YOU WILL KNOW ME, SECRET HISTORY

All right folks, fall is upon us so it's time for an #MSWL refresher. Agent friends old & new, I'm always down for a catch-up, so don't hesitate to reach out if any of this strikes your fancy!

Always a quick way to my heart in any form are dogs, desserts, and true crime. And a few recent favorite “for fun” reads have been Mexican Gothic, Malibu Rising, The Other Black Girl, Luck of the Titanic, Solutions and Other Problems, and Finlay Donovan Is Killing It.

NOT at the top of my list right now are non-fiction, picture books, gross out humor, books set in space, books set during a theater production, or books centered around a mass shooting. Not knocking any of it, just not right for me!

On the speculative side of YA, give me a world or a circumstance I’ve never seen before. I love high-stakes, plot-driven fantasy and sci-fi, where the world enhances the story more than is the focus.

I’d love to find thoughtful and fresh YA thrillers, books that go beyond the mystery to question the character’s views or the status quo. Think Tiffany Jackson, Kara Thomas, Courtney Summers, or the show Cruel Summer.
