Really in the mood for something gothic as hell, full of rot and ruin, a slow-burn romance, twists and turns, and BIPOC protagonists. #MSWL

Hi! I’m putting it out into the universe that I‘d love to acquire more middle grade novels! I want to find strong personalities and big hearts, stories about finding confidence and discovering friendship, magical stories, contemporary tales, amplifying marginalized voices. #MSWL

Updated my #MSWL page! This fall (HOW IS IT ALREADY FALL!!) I'm especially looking for (agented) sharply funny fiction, heartfelt contemporary YA, and diverse thrillers & suspense.

So I've mentioned to a few people how lately instead of looking for escapism I gravitate more than ever toward books about loss & grief & suffering, in my need to feel less alone with the emotions. In thinking what this means for my worklife and my #mswl --

Why is "the chosen one" always a teenager? We're really gonna put the fate of the universe on someone with an undeveloped prefrontal cortex? Give me a story with a chosen one who is a 42 year old mom that has already seen some shit and is totally out of fucks to giveas many others have no doubt said, 1000% #mswl

it's easy to write angst. making someone feel happy?that's the real magic trick.
As much as I personally love all the angsty books and the genre books and the books that open the conversation for difficult topics and issues, what I really want right are books that are full of hope and love and offer that spark of joy to a reader when they need it.

i am waiting for these big publishers to see that so so so many people give love to queer YA books so therefore,,,,it would make sense for them to start pushing queer adult fiction like queer kids do grow up u knowAgents, please know I’m absolutely ravenous for queer adult #horror for @TorNightfire. Like, foaming at the mouth, clawing at the walls, wailing at the moon, etc. etc. #MSWL

It's been brought to my attention in a sort of roundabout way that people aren't interested in queer books, esp QPoC books, that don't center trauma. Can y'all do me a favor & RT this if you'd love to read some books about queer people with little to no trauma in them?
Read AND acquire please #MSWL

Sister, Sister was one of my favorite childhood shows, and I'd love to see an inspy romance submission in the same vein! Twins separated by adoption at birth bringing together their now-single adoptive parents. Younger twins would be better for Love Inspired, though. #MSWL

I cannot believe that I am one day away from watching @LovecraftHBO . So I‘m gonna channel this energy and The Secret some stuff into the Universe: Please send all supernatural horror YA that centralizes PoC and examines racism and intersectional feminism via monsters thx!! #MSWL

Many romance ms submissions pay too much attention to the exes in unnecessary & clichéd ways, giving them a generic feel.
I want to see more heroines who broke up with their exes for reasons other than cheating. And fewer heroines who are brokenhearted after being dumped. #MSWL

@muliebris You know what else I would do, is the teenage diaries of Rebecca Bunch (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend). I could do a YA series starting with her bat mitzvah, going through camp with Josh, and ending with her burning down her professor’s apartment in college. I’m deeply qualified for this.#mswl !!!
