A mix of themes I like to see explored (not all at once!): nature, motherhood, identity, making difficult decisions, travel, myth of meritocracy, feminism, longevity, family, heartbreak, secret histories, individuality, modernism, trust, class, money, race, art, memory. #mswl

I'd love something exploring ability/disability. Definitely #OWNVOICES. Non-fiction or fiction but my taste skews more commercial, not literary #mswl

Gothic fiction with possibly a modern storyline, too (I love THE LITTLE STRANGER by Sarah Waters and THE GREATCOAT by Helen Dunmore). Give me some ghosts. #mswl

A LGBTQIA+ novel in the vein of ONE DAY (high concept, unique structure, deep and sweeping love story) #mswl

I would love unique cookbook concepts by Black and Indigenous bloggers as well as non-fiction by BIPOC food writers #mswl

Non-fiction about social/urban geography & how we move through our world. City planning etc leading to inequity and reinforcing racism through planning. Ideally with a feminist lens like INVISIBLE WOMEN. #mswl

Non-fiction about the sobriety movement from an expert or journalist. #mswl

I receive almost no cookbooks/food-related nonfiction, & I'd love to see more of those, too. #MSWL

I'd also love to see more upmarket fiction, women's fiction, & YA horror. I'm surprised how little of the query pie these genres take up. Please send me more of them. #MSWL

I get woefully few middle grade submissions. Y'all, I want middle grade! Middle grade is my heart! Please send me your middle grade!!! #MSWL

I receive the next most horror and literary fiction submissions. Keep these coming, please. I receive a ton of sci-fi submissions, but I am looking for no hard sci-fi, & I get so. many. hard sci-fi queries.
