As for historical: I'm always on the lookout for previously untold stories and unheard perspectives, particularly those of forgotten/misunderstood women a la THE PARIS WIFE, WEYWARD, THE CHRISTIE AFFAIR.
Another gap: I'm missing a thriller that is super high-concept - have you written the next WRONG PLACE, WRONG TIME, END OF STORY, DO NO HARM? 🙋♀️I'm your girl.
I'll also never tire of literary suspense - especially that which pulls the curtain back on a new community or subculture, or, as above, has escapist elements. Last year's faves in this space: ALL THAT'S LEFT UNSAID, MORE THAN YOU'LL EVER KNOW and THE CARETAKERS.
I'm also manifesting something heist-y! Whether that's contemporary and hilarious like COUNTERFEIT or a historical masterpiece like THE HOUSEKEEPERS (coming this summer), I'm open to anything in this space.
...especially because one of the biggest gaps on my list is a destination thriller. I'm manifesting this for myself in 2023! Some that I loved in 2022 include: BREATHLESS, forthcoming debut THE DIVE, DEEP WATER, THE VILLA, and SUN DAMAGE.
To that end: did you love White Lotus? I LOVED White Lotus (both seasons...) so, if your book has ANY resemblance to everyone's favorite locked room mystery - rich people behaving badly, an escapist setting, dark AF humor, I want to see it...
My women's fiction list is a little full; I'll be focusing on suspense, thrillers, book club historical, and contemporary novels with an edge for the first half of 2023.
My 1st year @PaperLiterary was more exciting/fun/successful than I could have ever imagined, and I had high hopes! But I'm keen for 2023 to be even better. And so: my latest #MSWL! Authors, if any of this resonates (or you think we'd be a fit more generally): my inbox is open!🧵

the tl:dr of the above bio? i want fun, exciting commercial & genre fiction and accessible well-researched non-fiction, specifically from marginalized creators!

thriller fanatic, rom com addict, acquiring literary agent @psliterary - she/her
Psychological thrillers with new twists on my favorite classic tropes: unstable (or unhinged) narrators, missing memories or time, seemingly decent people with dark pasts, stalking, gaslighting in any form. As long as the twists don't distract from the story, I'm in! #MSWL
In rom coms, my favorite tropes are friends-to-lovers, fake dating, and second chance romance—though I'm open to other tropes! If you have a new twist on these classic tropes, I'd love to take a look. #MSWL
I love humorous essay collections—but am only considering collections if they have some sort of bigger picture social commentary tying the essays together. #MSWL
Send me all your ghost stories. I'll take adult fiction (scary or fun), a history of haunted places in America, an illustrated book—you name it, I'm here for it. Spook me! #MSWL
I'm looking for cozy mysteries with younger protagonists geared towards millennial audiences. I'd love to see a wider range of settings and premises for series, so if you have something that's unique (and written with millennials in mind), send it over! #MSWL
Nonfiction (especially self-help or cultural commentary) from qualified sources. I want books that help people discover issues they didn't know about or see a familiar problem in a new way. Fresh perspectives are not only welcomed but encouraged! #MSWL
