2/3 My #MSWL for pitches is: adult work only in fantasy (all categories), mystery, thriller, romance, women’s fiction, upmarket, and maybe even a thriller. My dream acquisition would have been The Night Circus. I like work that has hints of magic and a bit of darkness.

I am primarily looking for Adult and Young Adult projects this year! While I do a little bit of everything, these are the areas I am most hoping to build out. All of the following genres and #MSWL's will apply to both adult and YA projects!

Stories with the entrenched characters arcs, cults, unreliable narrators, eeriness, and survival component of Yellowjackets. I am OBSESSED with this show to say the least and would love to see these elements in the YA thriller/horror space or the adult speculative space.

Adult Mystery: My tastes here are pretty specific. If you've listened to my old friend, @taylorswift13, say you have a story that would comp to “Vigilante Shit” or “no body, no crime” then you’re 100% in my wheelhouse. #mswl

Adult Romance: Romance that sweeps me off my feet. Heroes who love hard and fast and true. I ADORE a good HE FALLS FIRST story. I also love it when HE TRIES TO SAVE HER BUT SHE SAVED HERSELF FIRST. #mswl

This is vague, I know, but since it's #mswl day at @TheTobiasAgency, I would love to find a SFF/speculative in adult or ya that is weird but captivating. A little bit of "I have no idea what's going on but I am into it."

As far as what I want in adult: Good hooks, gripping plots, strong characters. I either want light, funny & swoony for the romcom/romance, or layered, smart and edge-of-seat for the thrillers. Sticking with commercial, contemporary for adult for now. No SFF. #mswl #querytip

#MSWL I’m getting a lot of great subs in since I opened up, but not a lot in what I’m REALLY hankering for right now: adult horror, thrillers, suspense whether they are grounded or have more of a supernatural element. I want to be unsettled and engrossed!
