I'm open to queries again!!! Here's what I'm really wanting to see in my box right now...

#MSWL 1/?

-unique picture books by diverse authors
-joyful stories about the lives of marginalized creators in PB and MG
-MG & YA contemporary stories as graphic novels or novels-in-verse

For the new year, in addition to my forever #MSWL on the ArtHouse page, in 2023, I’m looking for some specifics!!:
- picture book nonfiction
- narrative nonfiction/memoirs (think MAID)
- middle grade National Treasure with non-founding father artifacts
- adult Black romance

"I'm looking for the type of magical picture books that sticks with a child throughout their life—the kind that lingers."

Would love to see a YA "Bad Sisters" or a Sarah Dessen-type novel with BIPOC main characters. Would also love an MG with some badass main characters. How about a PB with a crazy, funny twist at the end? #MSWL

💜WRITERS💜 No need to wait until the new year--I'm open to queries and would love to see your work. YA/MG/PB fiction and NF. Make me laugh, make me swoon, make me cry. BIPOC, LGBTQ+, disabled and other underrepresented creators please query! #MSWL here: manuscriptwishlist.com/mswl-post/shar…

"I love a unique atmosphere/strong sense of place in books across the board, whether that be picture books, middle grade, or adult fiction."

So very excited to share I've joined @ktliterary!

I will be opening to queries in the new year, continuing to rep picture books, middle grade and YA novels, graphic novels, and nonfiction.

Please send me all of your gorgeous, lyrical (but not rhyming) picture books that are seasonal or focused on beautiful surroundings. Extra points if you send me a picture book that features the northern lights ⭐️ #mswl #pb

"I'm looking for the next hilarious, commercial-feeling picture book that will crack kids up!"

Give me books for #generationartemis! All the space books EXCEPT space opera (sorry!)! Think Andy Weir, Mary Doria Russell, and Fonda Lee. Also more fiction picture books with space themes! Non-fiction is good too, but I want something fresh.

First, you can find out more about me and what I'm looking for anytime on our website: dunhamlit.com/anjanette-barr…

I really love elephants.

If you are an illustrator with an elephant picture book, hit me up. I’d love an elephant book of an elephant living its life in wild. Not living it up in the big city Babar-style. (Also less colonialism) #mswl

Good news #MSWL has my new post up. manuscriptwishlist.com/mswl-post/anis… I hope this helps anyone having trouble getting to know what I am working on.

"Pitch me your picture books: illustrated stories with literary sensibilities, nonfiction topics (not biographies), cultural traditions/folklore/history."

"I love picture books about family traditions/cultural traditions, especially when there is food, cooking, baking, or recipes involved."

I got a Fun New Title, now you get a Fun New Wish List! Happy to share that my official #MSWL is up and running: manuscriptwishlist.com/mswl-post/dani…

Have a pile of submissions to get to but a #mswl that's been on my heart ever since my trans/NB partner told me they've never seen themself reflected in lit: more books (PB, MG, YA, GN) featuring genderqueer main characters pls. There's power in lit, and the fascists know it.

When I was growing up there seemed to be a micro-genre of Kafka-esque picture books about kids waking up with mysterious, fantastical physical conditions. They were so fun! I'd love to see projects like these. #MSWL

#PBpitch is coming up so here are some of the types of stories I’m on the lookout for:

Picture books…
-by underrepresented authors
-with Abuelas and lots of love
-heartfelt family messages
-anything musical
-bilingual books
…and more!
