Things I am not excited about right now:

1) Fae stories (particularly fae romantasy)
2) small town romances
3) grimdark
4) dark romances (I am too ace for most of this)
5) darkness for the sake of darkness - I need my dark elements to *say* something, or be there for a reason

6) Something *new*

This is the worst, and I know this. Here's what I mean:
- unique worldbuilding
- new twists on familiar plot points & tropes
- plot twists that play on and upend expectations
- similar narratives from under-represented povs that materially change the underlying story

Things that excite me right now:

1) stories featuring disability/chronically ill characters who succeed *because of* their strength/accommodations

2) contemp. romance with fantasy elements

3) "cozy" stories with high personal/local stakes

4) Adventure forward fantasy

5) hobby/niche romances

I spent the weekend at #LAConV talking about what unifies my list. My deals are spread across four genres, but they all have one main principle: stories of self discovery/determination/assertion. Strong focus on community, organizing and belonging as foils against oppression and authoritarianism.

I've got COVID, so I have time: let's talk about my #mswl as I prepare to open on September 14!

Didn't have great success with trying to limit queries to a particular genre, so instead I'll just ask for a variety of things and hope people keep to that and my wishlist.
