I'd like a little bit of horror, too. It needs to be something speculative - no thrillers please! Think supernatural/cosmic horror.

Strong female characters! (This doesn't need to mean physically strong!) Awesome non-binary characters! LGBTQA+ characters! Neuro-diverse characters! Masculine characters with rich, rounded traits and a diverse supporting cast!

I especilly want: Fantasy romance! (Not paranormal romance - needs to be fantasy!) Near-future adult sci-fi. Epic fantasy based on non-European settings. Space opera with non-European/American influences!

I am always looking for adult and YA SFF! That includes pretty much any speculative fiction you can think of, although I prefer my sci-fi on the heavier side. (So not really near-future stuff that's "just" dystopian without awesome tech etc.)

I am passionate about representing under or misrepresented voices and stories that contribute to a larger cultural conversation whether explicitly (e.g., a nonfiction title on social justice) or subtly (a comedy of manners about a mixed-raced Latinx family)…

FOR ALL SUBMISSIONS: I fall in love with stellar writing on the level of the line, voice, and rhythm. The number #1 reason why I pass on a query is because the writing is not where it needs to be given the competitive traditional publishing market.

I am a fan of books that expose what’s hiding in plain sight, whether it’s an untold story, the unseen side of things we think we know everything about, and/or projects that unlock unexpected and enlightening patterns/connections.
