9/ I was a child of the 90's, I LOVE 90's culture, and especially children's media. FOREST HILLS BOOTLEG SOCIETY by @nicolegoux and @xDaveBakerx was an INSTANT pre-order when I discovered it.

8/ Historic tragedies and melodramatic tragic figures have always FASCINATED me. I read Anne Frank's journal cover to cover repeatedly as a child. I PORED over photographs of the Titanic. I think of Marie Antoinette's cruel and misattributed "let them eat cake" regularly.

7/ Mental illness and psychiatric disability is always an area of interest of mine, since it both affects me and I've worked in the field extensively. I often refer people to non-fiction on this topic, but another favourite is @sentencebender's DESTROY ALL MONSTERS.

6/ Related, but not the same, I am also very interested in human-animal-nonhuman relationships. This is actually what I studied in my PhD. I've read many fantastic books on the subject, but still highly recommend LOVE NOTES by @philip_mckibbin, who is now ALSO doing his PhD.

5/ Animals. I have worked with and studied animals from childhood to present, including my PhD. My favourites are bees, bears, and kākāpōs, and I am highly interested in birding in general. @KellyOhlert nailed this interest of mine in her forthcoming TO GET TO THE OTHER SIDE!

4/ Books! Surprise! I love books. Sometimes, the market for books about books and bookish things can be oversaturated, but I still do love them, and I'm always interested in a fresh take. Comp: Victoria Schwab's THE ARCHIVED duology.

1/ I had a call with an editor the other day, and I asked her what she always wanted to see in her inbox. She responded, ZERO hesitation: I LOVE MANATEES! This brought me SUCH joy! I thought I would be useful do a thread of some of my special interests! #MSWL
