A quick #MSWL for picture books:
I always, always love the intersection of family and food - keep me in mind for these!
But I have some specific desires right now in PBs, related to my own disability experience in myself and my family.

I believe very strongly that Aster deserves to go to art school & see if she likes girls when they aren't pretending to be someone else, and Ellie deserves to go to college & meet some girls she doesn't need to lie to, and maybe in a few years they'll cross paths again but betterOoh, was just struck by how much I'd like to see the book that would follow this: what happens when the incredibly ill-advised Tropey Dating Scheme fails, but the people involved reconnect a few years later with a much stronger sense of self? #mswl

“Pop psychology & fun self help projects, especially from a qualified position (i.e. therapist, psychologist, life coach, etc). I love books that can provide tangible ways to improve yourself, while also being considered a fun read.” @claire_m_harris #MSWL psliterary.com/submissions/

How do you grow up to become Senator Kyrsten Sinema, with a "Style [that] Keeps Us Guessing"?
A teen version of Sinema would make a dynamite #YA protagonist out to make her mark, dressed to win. #MSWL

a quick FYI for my #mswl:
i love retellings (fairytale, mythology, etc.) and am always happy to see them in my box!
HOWEVER, i *do not* like super obvious retellings. they HAVE to be subtle for me to like them - think ACOTAR and ACOMAF, CINDER, or FOR THE WOLF

And a few perennial #MSWL requests - wilderness stories, a new generation of #horsegirl books (would LOVE to see this from a #BIPOC author), logic, puzzles, whipsmart protagonists, morally grey characters. Can't wait to see great things in the inbox next week (10/25)!

In the #picturebook #PB realm, I'm really focusing on culturally grounded stories from marginalized authors and non-fiction that focuses on lesser known heroes/historical figures/etc. Here I love folklore, non-western mythology, etc. I don't typically tend to gravitate toward -animal/farm type stories. I have a few PB deals that have yet to be announced, but hopefully when they are it should give a better idea of my tastes here!

I'm currently being very selective in the #middlegrade category, but here I'd happily take a look at #horror, #mysteries, stories with quirky characters a la client @merrill_wyatt 's Sloane and Amelia in forthcoming TANGLED UP IN LUCK. Also, I love humor in middle grade -be it tongue-in-cheek a la client @HenryCClark 's WHAT WE FOUND IN THE CORN MAZE AND HOW IT SAVED A DRAGON, or the occasional fart joke. Please make me laugh!
