I’m hugely drawn to natural/unassisted childbirth, pregnancy, & motherhood. Informative & heartwarming. Ina May Gaskin is my hero! Highlighting how Big Pharma has medicalized birth (in the vein of The Business of Being Born).

Speculative Fiction: like our world, but one or two big differences. Less of a pull for me, but if you have something unputdownable with a massive hook, send it my way!

Women’s fiction: I’m looking for a strong voice and writing that is accessible. I’d love a story that is full of heart and profoundly honest. I’m also keen for darker twists.

For speculative fiction and magical realism, I love stories that deal with time in interesting ways (OONA OUT OF ORDER) but I also love Isabel Allende’s stories.
I’ve been saying I would love to see an adult version of Encanto.

I acquire a few genres between our two imprints, but to break it down:

Crooked Lane:
thrillers, historical mysteries, cozy mysteries, and horror.

Alcove Press:
historical fiction, magical realism, speculative fiction, romcoms, bookclub fiction, and romantasy.
