-Navigating dating/love/heartbreak as a millennial
-Sports romance!

Here are the main differences in my MSWL from last year:

-In the MG space, I'm only now open to upper MG (protagonists 12+)

-Open more to contemporary fantasy, less to genre fantasy

-Open less to PBs with animal casts

-Narrower parameters on historical and dystopian

*NEW: In both MG & YA, I learned over my first year that I'm almost always a better fit for contemporary fantasy than I am for genre fantasy.

Still happy to consider fantasy if you think I'm a strong fit for other reasons, but this is something I want to be forthright about!

YA and MG contemporary fantasy: My second love! I’m interested in the same topics, and will look foremost for lyrical writing and character focus, with unique but very grounded magic systems. Comp: THE NATURE OF WITCHES by Rachel Griffin.

YA and upper MG contemporary continue to be my first priority! Lyrical prose, novels-in-verse, “dark and gritty,” “issue-driven,” character-driven, voice-y. I want to feature LGBTQIA+ voices, BIPOC voices, disability and chronic illness, mental health and neurodivergence, grief.

I acquire contemporary romance, book club fiction, suspense, thriller, and mystery in the commercial and upmarket space. Would love to see more diverse suspense and thriller in particular!

My client list is filling up, so I will be even more selective this time. My #mswl includes:
- high concept board, picture, and chapter books (new concept easily understood in just a few words)
- YA contemporary like Jenny Han and John Green (commercial but bends a bit literary).

- Queer contemp and historical fiction with gorgeous prose and a strong hook
- Queer and/or BIPOC romance across categories. Steam (in adult) is welcome but not required!
- Cozy mysteries for millennials
- SFF with a strong romantic element, or romance with a strong SFF element

For both here, I really want cozy fantasy. Low stakes 'comfort' reads are huge especially if it's got something to do with food or music! Contemporary and urban fantasies are also great and I love vamps and werewolves! 4/?
