Breakfast Club, but they are at wizard school.Bring It On, but they are at wizard school.
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, but he’s at wizard school.
It’s just that easy to make a new genre of film, fellas.

Anyway, there are so many tropes about magical artifacts. How about a ring quest where the colonizers took all the gold—ring included? How about conquerors who couldn’t get the sword out of the stone, so they took the whole damn stone as a trophy, like with the Egyptian obelisks? How about an anticolonial twist on the scholar-hero who seeks “lost” or “underutilized” arcana from cultures not their own? #MSWL
Read this @hopkins_exhibit article on the questions that one #SFF work, #BlackPanther, asks of the museum studies field:

hey @guardian, i fixed your headline for you pic.twitter.com/p0Fu06bZgCI can’t stop thinking about this.
Someone write me a reverse, PoC Howard Carter #SFF novel where cultural artifacts are repatriated to their rightful inheritors. Give me the fantasy or future tech inverse heist novel. #MSWL twitter.com/_iwakeli_i/sta…

Denmark has erected its first statue of a Black woman. ‘Queen Mary’ honors Mary Thomas, a resister of colonial oppression pic.twitter.com/x8B6uRYMt0Okay so Queens of the Fireburn is an incredible title for a fantasy novel, so if someone could take inspiration from this bit of history and write an epic fantasy about a trio of black women rising up and starting a magical revolution that would be great #mswl #ownvoices

do u ever just ship two characters but as exes.. like u dont even care about how they were when they were together you just want them to have HistoryYES. Especially when exes have to be Mature Adults who interact with each other in professional, humane ways because there are things more important than their old ghosts—like winning a war, or negotiating a peace, or fixing an economy, or passing a law, or RAISING A CHILD. #MSWL

@muguiyings I’ve always been dying for a princess in particular who doesn’t seem transported from 2018 😫😫 like why are you so shook you need to marry for the interests of the throne? So I’d love to see that dynamic w/mom PLUS the girl being savvy about her options, even if they disagree.yes!!! i also want to see a princess who takes her political duties seriously & recognises that her personal desire to marry for love might be a smidge less important than the thousands of lives resting on a political marriage #mswl

im interested in the cultural narrative that makes women the primary, most virulent enforcers of patriarchyyou see this often in novels w/girl protagonists who are somehow rebellious or who doesn’t fit into the gendered expectations placed on her
