#MSWL while I absolutely love middle grade horror and dark fantasy, I'm seeing A LOT of it in queries. Would love to see some variety! Sci-fi, fairytale retellings, contemporary, something tragic, joyful stories, series oriented, adventure, etc

How our identity is shaped by people’s reactions to us. While I’m not currently open to adult nonfiction, I would love to see contemporary fiction that grapples with these same questions in thoughtful, surprising ways, especially from underrepresented perspectives.

I got my masters in creative nonfiction, though I entered the program in fiction and spent two years in each genre. My thesis was a collection of research-heavy personal essays titled “Role Play: Essays on Fitting into the World,” which examined the different roles women play /
