I've been thinking a LOT about what I'd like to see in a YA vampire book revival and it's this: teen girl pursues becoming a vampire because she wants power #MSWL

#MSWL But I would love adult contemporary romance that challenges the reader to consider race, culture,& religion as characters navigate the relationship. If you think your book will challenge me to look critically at myself and my privileged white perspective, I want to read it.

#MSWL Looking for adult contemp romance: primarily queer or neurodiverse. I really want to focus on queer and/or autistic relationships and show the broad range of experiences that heterocis/neurotypical creators/characters have tons of page space to show already.

#MSWL as you can see by the above list, I love sharp twisty politics, bizarre aliens and worlds, unreliable narrators, vicious political/criminal entities, tightly-woven character narratives that shock me in the end, and frightening, unique manifestations of magic.

THE TETHERED MAGE by Melissa Caruso, PLANETFALL by Emma Newman, PRIEST OF BONES by Peter McLean, THE POPPY WAR by R.F. Kuang, and STORY OF YOUR LIFE/ARRIVAL by Ted Chiang.

#MSWL I am always eager to find new adult fantasy and sci fi projects, but I am extremely selective. Looking for sci fi that changes my entire perception of possibility in the universe. Looking for fantasy that breaks the mold & embraces new magical structures/systems.

#MSWL On the picture book side, I am looking for stories that deal with different levels of ability, and stories with LGBTQ+ families. Also some hilarious and unexpected wordplay like THE WONKY DONKEY.

#MSWL Would also really love to see more picture book and YA contemporary stories written by Native American/First Nations, Metis, or Inuit creators. Authors or author/illustrators welcome.

#MSWL In YA contemporary, I think some authors think "I went through something that was wild and powerful but I was a strange/uncool kid so probably no one else experienced something similar."
Not true! Write that! Wring every drop out of it! Put it on the page and query me.

#MSWL queer elements in YA contemporary always a bonus for me, because I am absolutely queer too. Show me teen friendships that influence us for life. Show me connections that fracture in devastating ways.
I am closing to YA Fantasy & Sci Fi. List is full on those for the moment.

I desperately want YA contemporary. Powerful female friendships fraught w/tension & drama. An updated YA Girl: Interrupted. Show me how a peer catastrophe in high school truly feels like the end of the world. Validate those moments & their impact.

I’d love to find an author who can pull the rug out like this and then deliver on the promise the way Fleabag did in this episode/season. #MSWL
