A more horror-tinged KALA by Colin Walsh would be an incredible place to start. Or The Craft X PENANCE by Eliza Clark. God, those were two excellent books.

#MSWL , I grew up in a nothing rural-adjacent market town and god lord, we searched and hoped to uncover dark conspiracies and spookiness most foul. We didn't find any, so send me some if your book is in that world.
