For the afternoon crowd, I refreshed my #mswl and threaded a couple of highlights below. Not huge changes, but I did add a genre and tweaked what I was looking for in another.

Across categories: A perennial ask, but #Latinx stories from #Latinx creators! Especially from authors of Puerto Rican, Dominican, or Cuban descent. #mswl

Adult Romance: High concept stories that are just shy of bonkers are always my jam. If you have to caveat an idea with “wait, but hear me out” it’s likely that I will be interested in seeing more. #mswl

YA/MG: Kids with chronic conditions, especially invisible ones, grappling with new diagnoses or figuring out how to navigate old ones in the face of growing up and gaining more responsibility for self-care is a space that has room for growth in this category. #mswl

Adult Mystery: My tastes here are pretty specific. If you've listened to my old friend, @taylorswift13, say you have a story that would comp to “Vigilante Shit” or “no body, no crime” then you’re 100% in my wheelhouse. #mswl

Adult Romance: Romance that sweeps me off my feet. Heroes who love hard and fast and true. I ADORE a good HE FALLS FIRST story. I also love it when HE TRIES TO SAVE HER BUT SHE SAVED HERSELF FIRST. #mswl

Across categories/genres: #LGBTQ stories of all flavors, any retelling “but make it gay” is pretty much would be something I want to read always. #mswl

Y’all, I am opening to queries on Sunday! THIS Sunday!! I’ll be posting a full MSWL then, but I’m here for a MC who has the best of intentions but sometimes “falls” into these situations… 😅😂🫠

One thing I'd like to note after @TheTobiasAgency #MSWL day is that for me it ALWAYS comes down to the quality of the writing--there's no substitute for an irresistible narrative voice. Of course there are genres I'm more comfortable with, but make sure the voice sparkles!
