I'm back with a real #MSWL since opening to queries. I posted a photo of things I can't shut up about last week and that's threaded, but also threaded are some recent and upcoming reads that I loved/am excited about that I wanna see in my inbox.

I wish I could accurately describe my kid's glee when he realized he might be able to use his burping skills to further the space program. "I want to be in an experiment!"Have a 9-13yo who likes humor, bodily functions, and/or science? Hand them this book. @mary_roach pic.twitter.com/74yZWw0SXj
Would love to see more #NF humorous science books like this in my inbox! #MSWL

We are also keen to see MG sci-fi and fantasy, and are particularly looking for UK middle grade by creators from historically excluded backgrounds.
Looking forward to reading! #mswl

Hello! Happy 2022! I will be back at my desk tomorrow morning and am excited to dive into what’s already shaping up to be an exciting year, over 300 (!) assistant applications, AND I’ll be opening to queries. Ahead of that, let’s do a #mswl thread.Queriers! We are mostly caught up aside from four we're closely considering. So, we'll be opening to queries on Monday 19th and can't wait to see what you've been cooking up. Alice's #mswl from earlier this year still very much stands: twitter.com/alibelle/statu…

So excited to be back open to queries (a little late thanks to covid). Send me your mysteries, thrillers, complex families, kids on bikes (moms/older friends on bikes, too) and Midwest/prairie-set stories. Full #mswl @ nelsonagency.com

Ok so I love general market books with religious content. Think anything Dan Brown or in inspy Frank Peretti. Now merge that with a touch or smidge more of horror. Now hear me: I DO NOT want anything sacrilegious--at all. We all have our boundaries. #MSWL

"Standout single-subject books tend to grab me really quickly. If you think your project is too niche, I might be right for you."

#MSWL: My adult #fiction list will be smaller but think upmarket #BookClub fiction or domestic suspense--something that will keep me up at night. Really enjoyed Angie Kim's Miracle Creek. Has to feel #contemporary, braiding together issues of social import & identity.

#MSWL: #ChildrensBooks send me yr #GraphicNovel projects, from high-concept to literary, or middle grade with visual elements. Something with heart & humor. See Remy Lai's Pie in the Sky as a good comp. Also enjoyed Witches of Brooklyn & Pilau of the Woods as GN comps.

#MSWL: For #ChildrensBooks I'm only looking for Middle Grade and Young Adult right now. In the NF children's space I want STEAM-focused titles, anything whimsical and transportive, but has to be light on fantasy/ grounded fantasy (no #scifi for me).

#MSWL: #Lifestyle titles (see Kate Oliver’s The Modern Caravan), humorous or visually-driven projects, (see @NatalyaLobanova's Everyone is Awful), and #business books that read like memoir (Tony Hsieh's Delivering Happiness is one of my all-time faves).

#MSWL: Always on the hunt for prescriptive non-fiction with practical takeaways, #cookbooks with a unique angle or narratives centered on #culinary or #foodie life. Currently loving Mooncakes & Milk Bread by Kristina Cho. Want more southern, Asian-forward, indigenous cookbooks!

For adult #NonFiction , I want narrative or memoir (must have a platform) that sheds light on an unseen corner in society or history, esp. with a social justice bent. I want the next Braiding Sweetgrass, The New Jim Crow, Five Days at Memorial.#MSWL: Check out @stuartpalley's book Into the Inferno for a good example of what I'm looking to rep in this space. Also: medical narratives, anything shedding light on the #healthcare industry and weaving in history. Books like Heart: A History by Sandeep Jauhur, for example.
