Meg Reid 🦦 @megireidWe're changing up our open query period a bit! (We're shortening it). As I've said before, we receive hundreds and hundreds of queries each time we open but only realistically have 2 or 3 spots to fill.
Read more about the changes below! Dms are open for questions, etc 🪐 twitter.com/HubCityPress/s…
My #MSWL: novels; single-topic nonfiction; nonfiction projects that blend memoir/reportage; projects by BIPOC writers, non-MFAs, writers over 40.
Modern and imaginative books that redefine/interrogate the modern or historic South.
With #pitmad coming up, here’s a quick snapshot of my #mswl — I’m looking for adult commercial fiction, specifically fantasy, sci-fi, rom-coms, historical romance, paranormal romance and thrillers from BIPOC & LGBTQIA2S+ writers. Also open to graphic novels in the same genres! 📚
Think Crimson Peak, Edgar Allen Poe, The Haunting of Bly Manor, Mexican Gothic, Ninth House, Ace of Spades, dark Gossip Girl, & Addams Family!
Give me a heavy atmosphere & aesthetic.
How I would KILL for a BIPOC Yellow Wallpaper x Haunting of Bly Manor
So #writtingcommunity & #amquerying folks, I'll be re-opening to queries September 1st! 👀
That means it's time for an updated #MSWL!!
I'm moving away from fantasy right now and want to see the following from BIPOC writers:
Audrey Lynn ✨ Freelance Illustrator @AudreyEstok〰️They play your song, is it another? Don't be down, girl, this world is a bummer, Queen of the rodeo.〰️ pic.twitter.com/qogueQvOS5
So gorgeous!! And also yes, I WOULD like a story about a BIPOC cowgirl thank u for asking #MSWL
Time for an updated #MSWL post! 🌟
First and foremost, I'm looking for BIPOC voices, queer voices, disabled voices, and generally, voices from historically excluded backgrounds.
All-Age Category #MSWL wants
☑️ Religions & spiritual beliefs that are underrepresented in publishing
Basically: The world we live in is diverse. Books written for kids in the 21st century should reflect that.
hi #amquerying & #WritingCommunity folx,
i’d love to see more:
• contemporary stories for MG-Adult
• rom-coms, especially in YA (queer & diverse). I want a BIPOC f/f story so badly!
• twisty YA thrillers and horror (& adult, always!)
- BIPOC rom-coms, friend-coms, and coming-of-age stories not exclusively centered around POC trauma
- Sweeping historical fiction / magical realism, especially stories about non-white history
- Speculative thrillers ala The Thousandth Floor & We Were Liars
emmy, purveyor of spines @emmy_of_spinesAlright, cats and kittens. We are more than halfway through this year, and maybe 11 PM on a Friday is not the most algorithm-friendly time to drop a new #MSWL for #AmQuerying authors, but I've been working hard on it tonight, so here it is! 🧵
As always: I always prioritize queries from LGBTQ2S+, disabled, chronically ill, and/or BIPOC authors. That applies to ALL my asks below, and I am grateful for all of you who choose to query me.
Nidhi Pugalia @makep1enotw4rMy #A #MSWL page is live! Agents, send me your BIPOC myth-retellings--your dark, lyrical novels that dip into fantasy--your REBECCA-esque gothic fiction--your quirky, voicey nonfic. Make me hungry, teach me something, whisk me away: bit.ly/2Udh4Is📚 pic.twitter.com/g67GgPz5g2
Ummm ditto. I want these things. #mswl

Hannah VanVels 🪴🌙 @hannahvanvelsGood morning, #amquerying #amwriting community!
PitMad may be over. There were almost half a million pitches, which is an overwhelming turnout! Because of that, I know I 💯 missed some things.
Query me anyways!
I'm particularly eager to build up my MG and Adult lists, but I can't resist a good PB or YA.
I'm perennially on the lookout for BIPOC, LGBT, and Neurodiverse creators in all categories.

Only #YA and #MG. Whodunit mysteries like Truly Devious (riddles!). Closed door thrillers/mysteries. Witchy stories like Undead Girl Gang and The Craft, grounded in the real world. #mswl
Always looking for BIPOC writers!
If you have it and I miss it, please send anyway!
