I'm leaning pretty light-hearted these days but I'm not necessarily opposed to darker twinged series. But please no being dark and brutal for the sake of being dark and brutal! I want stories to feel hopeful #MSWL

My #mswl gets pretty detailed into what I am looking for but generally speaking, I'm drawn to characters first & foremost in a story. I want to fall in love with them, I want to feel like they're my best friend, I want to call them up and yell at them for their bad decisions.

I am ONLY looking for YA/New Adult/Adult stories in romance, rom-coms, romantasy, upmarket/book club fiction, and women's fiction. OK to cross into the magical side of speculative (time travel, time slip, parallel universe stories a la THE SEVEN YEAR SLIP by Ashley Poston)

Queries that make me reach out with a request for more pages tend to have the following:
1⃣ Compelling query letter (the way the writer talks about the book—the characters, the world, the stakes—makes me curious enough to care instead of making me wonder "so what?" and move on...

Have also been craving more stories of "model minorities" behaving badly (think The Brothers Sun, Beef, etc)—one of my favorite genres that I'm still trying to figure out how to classify is "completely unhinged and yet completely believable".

I'm mostly looking for evocative and atmospheric literary fiction these days (my dark little heart tends to love being surprised and tenderized by the weird, strange, uncanny, gothic).
