Happy #MSWL day! Just a blanket note that I'd love to see #ownvoices subs and POC authors for every wishlist item I post today--not just the ones I specify--and in my inbox in general.

And I'm always looking for: own voices stories in pb, mg, and ya – would love to see more neurodiverse, LGBT+ and/or stories from people (particularly women) of color. Intersectional stories always welcome! #mswl

Rewatching Black Panther reminds me of how much I love Shuri! I’d really love to see a YA manuscript with a brilliant POC girl protagonist that’s badass at science and has a ton of sass! #mswl

I want THE ONE THING, THE 4-HOUR WORKWEEK & START WITH WHY, but written by POC & women. #mswl

For PBs: author/illustrators only. (I know that stings a little. Sorry?) I like modern art styles, whimsical-with-heart stories, light humor, honest kid emotions, and simple prose. +100 for women and POC author/illustrators. #mswl

I'll be quite honest, I'm tired of the white, male, straight cop. It isn't that I won't read or consider, I'm just bored and I don't want to be bored. Give me the lesbian mother fighting for her child or the POC cop. Give me more women and give me something I haven't seen #MSWL

Jessica Faust @BookEndsJessica · Aug 29

Give me GONE GIRL (for lack of a better comp) with POC, give me OTHER PEOPLE'S HOUSES with POC, give me the LGBTQ version of BIG LITTLE LIES, give me NEXT YEAR IN HAVANA, give me CRAZY RICH ASIANS #MSWL

Queer writers of color, this white cis gay man sez, LET'S DO THIS. #mswl

Prentis Literary recently discovered our website submission algorithm incorrectly sorted submission authors designated as 'POC'. Instead, it took POC as part of the word aPOCalyptic as in post-apocalyptic. So begins the search for months of POC/Intersectional fiction in our queue

In lieu of this, any #POC writer, or writer whose work is steeped w/intersectionality who hasn't heard from us but submitted late spring/early summer & on...
Please follow up w/letter 2 Afrisse@prentisliterary.com #MSWL We'll always be 👀for #writersofcolor & marginalized voices

please please please send me all these incredible, literally toe-curling ideas on #MuslimSquadWL b/c we need stories about *all* kind of muslims—about swashbuckling pirates or primadonnas or regular people w/ *quiet* stories, poc/queer/disabled/neuroatypical or otherwise! #MSWL

Penny Moore @precociouspenny · Jul 27

I’m still looking for a feel good contemporary YA rom com with a big commercial hook featuring POC characters a la Jenny Han. It’s like the great white whale of my career. Someone send it to me now, please. #MSWL

Okee dokee—the time has come to reopen to queries. (Hooray!) Since round numbers are nice, let’s say I’ll reopen on August 1st! Here's some stuff that I'd especially be excited to see in my inbox. #mswl

Picture books from author/illustrators (correct): modern art styles, whimsical-with-heart stories, light humor, and simple prose. Would love books that comp to MAX THE BRAVE, WE FOUND A HAT, and Emma Dodd. +100 for women and POC author/illustrators. #mswl #pb #Illustrator
