Here are the main differences in my MSWL from last year:

-In the MG space, I'm only now open to upper MG (protagonists 12+)

-Open more to contemporary fantasy, less to genre fantasy

-Open less to PBs with animal casts

-Narrower parameters on historical and dystopian

Sparingly open to nonfiction in picture books, from educational to memoir.

I'm open to bios; I prefer underrepresented subjects (NIKI NAKAYMA: A CHEF’S TALE IN 13 BITES by Debbi Michiko Florence).

Informative with some wit, like Mary Roach for kids!

I also love author-illustrators/teams! However, I am NOT a fit for art-only queries.

I'm looking most for SEL-driven PBs in general! Topics of interest:

-Grief – hopeful but not saccharine; honest about the heavy parts. (THE HOLE by Lindsay Bonilla)

-LGBTQIA+ – Anything from celebratory, to informative, to issue-based (WHAT ARE YOUR WORDS? by Katherine Locke)

*NEW: I've learned that I almost always prefer picture books with human protagonists. If I did take on a picture book with an all-animal cast, it'd be heavily SEL-driven (POCKET FULL OF SADS by Brad Davidson and Rachel Más Davidson).

Picture books: I always knew this would be the smallest area of my list, as I work on so many wonderful PBs with my boss @ChristaHeschke , but I've become even more selective with them.

In my first year, I took on two extraordinary clients (@k_dishmon and Nicole Zelniker, who are unequivocally the best) for their beautiful YA novels. I'm still actively seeking YA, as well as upper MG, and am sparingly open to picture books.

I'm a queer, chronically ill, disabled junior agent at McIntosh & Otis. I’m acquiring (in order of priority) YA, MG, and PB.

I studied English, literary criticism, poetry, and creative writing.

- Mysteries and thrillers that are mysterious and/or thrilling from the first chapter. You can have set-up, but the tone should clearly convey what genre I'm reading.
- Adventures like Pax and Wolf Called Wander
- Clean, tight writing styles. I'm a minimalist by nature.

My client list is filling up, so I will be even more selective this time. My #mswl includes:
- high concept board, picture, and chapter books (new concept easily understood in just a few words)
- YA contemporary like Jenny Han and John Green (commercial but bends a bit literary).

Adult/YA Fantasy:

For both here, I really want cozy fantasy. Low stakes 'comfort' reads are huge especially if it's got something to do with food or music! Contemporary and urban fantasies are also great and I love vamps and werewolves! 4/?

Hearing news about archeologists getting closer to finding Cleopatras tomb is making me hungry for more Egyptian based retellings or even YA adventure manuscripts. #mswl
