This is both a great and important read, and an absolute #mswl for me. I can't read holocaust books- they make me physically sick when they're done well- but I want so many more Jewish stories, for my 10 year old self and my 16 year old self and for me now too. twitter.com/Bibliogato/sta…Especially that mention of Jewish characters struggling with the politics of Israel? I didn't realize how much I want that til I read @Bibliogato's post. #MSWL

I shared my speech from this morning (minus the part of The Girl with the Red Balloon that I read) on Medium. Well, I just caught up on #misandryinpublishing. Tbh, I prioritize female authors’ queries over men’s. Because men’s writing has been prioritized for far too long. (& because I just really love lady authors.) Don’t @ me! Or do, bc I don’t care! 🤷🏻♀️ twitter.com/rheaswriting/s…Update: there are so, so many white men in my query inbox. Going to take a look of course, but putting out a #mswl call now for women writers and particularly POC!

So, I've been thinking about the number of times that I, as a female agent, get told by a male (unagented) writer that I am doing my job wrong, or "not helping enough", etc. on the internet. The number of "performance reviews" from strangers who are not my boss is incredible.Thread by the wonderful& articulate @TracyMarchini who puts into words what frustrates us often.
Also, this highlights WHY I ask for what I do on my #MSWL : Women characters in major decision-making positions; male characters comfortable w/that, as role models for kids.

Watching @UnRealLifetime with @BeautyBritches and thinking about how bad I want to read a book like this.
Like The Last One (goodreads.com/book/show/2724…), but maybe YA. #mswl

Lastly, while I've detailed things I'm particularly keen to see, like pet cozies, that doesn't mean I won't love your cozy hook that has nothing to do with animals. Maybe you have a fun unique hook I haven't thought of that's not overdone. Query it! #MSWL QueryMe.Online/RachelBrooks

The bookshelves need more cozy authors of color. If you're a cozy mystery AOC I'd love to hear from you. Query form--> QueryMe.Online/RachelBrooks #MSWL
