QUERY UPDATE: I will close to queries on October 1!

If your query is ready to send before then, I'd love to see it! But please don't rush, as I'll aim to open again in the new year. 🫶

I am opening to 250 new #queries on September 14! I have an evergreen #mswl but some things I am particularly excited about right now are in the thread below!

I'm actively looking for some new authors to work with at KT, & I can't wait to see what you have for me 👀

"I want literary and upmarket fiction about modern life, queer characters, mental health, and messy friendships—anything with 'cool girl' or 'sad girl' vibes."
mariavicente.com #MSWL

"In nonfiction, I’m drawn to enthusiastic expertise about niche topics across genres."

"I'm drawn to mysteries of all kinds — gothic, puzzle, and cozy!"
Gemma Paynter #MSWL

Unrelated to lice, but if anyone has an MG (especially with art similarities) like Invader Zim, I want to see it #MSWL

#MSWL I’m still hoping to find a sweet MG first crush story with a relationship dynamic like Jack and Kim from “Kickin' It.”

#MSWL Also still looking for “Who I’d Be” the Rachel Zegler version. Please give me a complex character who is misunderstood by society and searching for themselves. Romance encouraged!

#MSWL An NA or adult paranormal romance—give me demons, vampires, werewolves, sirens, or something with a unique plot.

#MSWL A hard-hitting journalist story in adult, NA, or YA. Bonus points for a romance.

#MSWL Please I’m looking for all the mysteries!:
* I’d love a YA, NA, or adult mystery with a romantic subplot set in a fantasy world or in this world with magical elements.
* I’d also kill (pun intended) for a MG mystery in the vein of “The Naturals” series.

Happy September! Re-sharing my #MSWL link and starting a new item thread of my biggest wants to clear up my pinned tweet. You will see some repeats on here 👀 Please check out the SFA submission guidelines on my wish list and/or the link in my bio.

Things I am not excited about right now:

1) Fae stories (particularly fae romantasy)
2) small town romances
3) grimdark
4) dark romances (I am too ace for most of this)
5) darkness for the sake of darkness - I need my dark elements to *say* something, or be there for a reason

6) Something *new*

This is the worst, and I know this. Here's what I mean:
- unique worldbuilding
- new twists on familiar plot points & tropes
- plot twists that play on and upend expectations
- similar narratives from under-represented povs that materially change the underlying story

#mswl

Things that excite me right now:

1) stories featuring disability/chronically ill characters who succeed *because of* their strength/accommodations

2) contemp. romance with fantasy elements

3) "cozy" stories with high personal/local stakes

4) Adventure forward fantasy

5) hobby/niche romances
