Lydia Sharp 📚❤☕🌈
I work on a LOT of books behind the scenes in various ways - there are several books I've worked on that you won't see my name on anywhere - but if you're looking specifically for books I've edited or co-edited, here is a handy list:
**more queer historical please and F/F in particular is something I really want to see more of
**Regency, Victorian, Tudor, Highlanders, Vikings are the main ones we're seeking but I'll look at anything
**I prefer moderate to steamy historical not sweet
**small town settings
**stories with dogs
**I will consider any heat level from sweet to steamy
**characters with interesting or atypical careers
**non-US settings - personally love Italy but ANYTHING is fine
the rest of this is ROMANCE ❤️
**rom-coms - and I'd really like to see some diversity here in the characters, their identities, and their backgrounds
**it's gotta be funny but not like slapstick humor - give me witty banter, and funny scenarios that aren't over the top
starting with the non-romance line:
**stuff that keeps you on the literal edge of your seat
**stuff that makes you ~fear~ it could actually happen bc it's so twisted but also based in fact
**rip something from the headlines & get creative
these #mswl tweets are for me specifically but as the acquisitions manager I see ALL submissions and I'm willing to take on anything I like even unexpectedly and think will be a hit - I also give mss to other editors if they're a better fit - so if you're not sure, just send it!
back with a few more #mswl tweets - this time for adult fiction and romance - a thread!
reminder - I'm an EDITOR not an agent - I edit for Entangled Publishing and we do ~mostly~ romance novels with only one imprint as an exception - PLEASE READ THE SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
still on YA and also something I've asked for in the past and still have not seen it:
**a mermaid book that feels like a new concept and bonus points if it's queer, would also like some kind of new and inventive world-building with this, just WOW me please
still on YA and this is something I've been asking for repeatedly and still haven't gotten it...
**Sherlock Holmes, some kind of fresh take, any genre - but I would love a "young Sherlock" historical told from Irene Adler's POV and they fall in love while solving crimes
still on YA - contemporary YA--again, I'll look at ANYTHING here, but more specifically...
**rom-com - even better if it's gay
**something serious at its heart but with a witty, accessible voice like *cough*SickKidsinLovebyHannahMoskowitz*cough*
Lydia Sharp 📚❤☕🌈 @lydia_sharptaking a quick break from editing to post a few #mswl wishes!
I can't tweet everything I want here, so please don't take this as a complete list
remember I am an EDITOR not an agent--please research the publisher I work for before sending, make sure we're a fit
here we go...
YA - I will consider ANYTHING that's YA, but more specifically...
**fantasy--ALL types, yes even paranormal
**also something spooky, I want chills when I read
**and sci-fi - I particularly like sci-fi with a thriller element and it has to have a lot of action/adventure
