Hey! I am still open to queries! You should absolutely send them my way.
Here's what I'm really hungry for at the moment (#mswl);
-Epic epic epic fantasy
-Big ole space opera
-All of the above told from non-traditional POV's
Sam Morgan @samroebuck#mswl I will tweet this wish until I finally get it:
Skins meets Harry Potter
Skins, to me, is hyper realistic. It's how teenagers or young adults actually act and see the world. They aren't chosen ones. But what if they could do magic, like in HP? That's the kind of world I want to explore.
Sam Morgan @samroebuck#mswl I want something with magic but with clear/simple rules ala Pushing Daisies or @CurtisCChen's Kangaroo books.
Then I want you to break those rules.
This is all about hooks. I love explaining Pushing Daisies to people. That's such a fun thing to discuss. But I also stories like "prophecy foretold three. But now there's a fourth" Add a delicious hook and then a break and you've got me, well, hooked.
Sam Morgan @samroebuck#mswl HEISTS! I want Plan A through Z to fall through but that was the gambit all along. The driver was the bag man who pulled a Lookie Loo on the mark but they weren't after the diamond, they were after the blueprints!
You get the picture.
With this one, obviously I want heists but why? What do I like about heists? I like characters that are confident, have thought everything through. They're in control, always. Big twisty plots that have been extremely well designed.

I'm looking for a smart and sleek thriller. Slightly speculative, maybe five minutes into the future, there's just a little something different about this world. Think BEHIND HER EYES by @SarahPinborough or JURASSIC PARK.
After talking about this with some very smart folks:
I'm now looking for YA fantasy. Preferably epic, with extreme crossover potential. Make it commercial and awesome.
And as always, diverse voices and stories encouraged and welcome.
I've been into video game speedrunning lately and I know there's a book on the subject somewhere out there waiting to be published. It'd more than likely be non-fiction, highly narrative.
The latest drama that has me hooked:
Sam Morgan @samroebuckThis is to no one in particular but:
Responding to a #mswl tweet with "but what about (something similar)" is not productive for you or your book.
If you think it's close, submit through the proper channels! Mention the tweet and why you think your book is what I'm looking for
For me, at least, #mswl is a guideline. Not a hard and fast parameter for what I'm looking for. It should give a glimpse into what an agent is feeling at the particular moment.
But mostly, we want to be surprised. So if you think you're close, shoot us a query.
To be more #mswl specific:
I really want a second world fantasy. Non-portal, a really lived-in and fully realized world. Rich and textured, this feels like a WORLD.
Non-chosen one stories. Morally complicated. Fun. Deep. Emotional.
Christopher Morgan @C_Morgs65@samroebuck Hah! Yeah. According to Wikipedia OG Gomez adopted and raised our favorite little Goonie.
Well how about that. Now I wanna see the goonies set in the Addams world. Do I smell a #mswl?
Sam Morgan @samroebuck#mswl He used that resentment as fuel. He got even better. He proved them wrong. He faced the summit and climbed it and reached the top.
What does one do upon achieving greatness? Where does your life go?
Tell me that story. #mswl
Sam Morgan @samroebuck#mswl here's this guy who spent his entire life working, striving to do this One Thing. And people doubted him! He harbored that resentment.
