Weronika E. Janczuk
Lit. agent @ D4EO. Fascinated: people, reality, things good + beautiful + true. Drinks: Earl Grey, milk + honey. Writes: science fantasy. Polish: bone + marrow.
New York, NY
Bria Sandford @blsandfordPride and Prejudice, except the Bennets are trying to marry off their large adult sons
Bria! This sounds excellent. I'm going to put this on my #MSWL. If someone wants to write this novel, I'll take it, and then Bria will have to figure out how to persuade Penguin Random House to acquire it on her non-fiction list. 🤨
Faber & Faber @FaberBooksHear @grahamfarmelo interviewing some of the great names in science and mathematics in his podcast series to accompany his new book The Universe Speaks in Numbers soundcloud.com/faberbooks/set… pic.twitter.com/bcgsiVilbi
Nice. This sounds utterly genius. Do I love good popular maths & sciences. #MSWL -- again, if anyone knows of or is an academic in some innovative research that could find a home on the popular/trade market, I'm interested in learning more.
E.G. Wilson @egwilsonauthor@WeronikaJanczuk @alyssammiele @billieeilish Are you looking for musician characters, @WeronikaJanczuk? Because I have something there. Or rather, two somethings -- two muso best friends in a three-person spy unit. (Not sure if you'd prefer this in a DM? + I know you're swamped.)
Well, I love music--but this was a total @alyssammiele #MSWL! I'll take a look at anything, anytime. [And will work for nine hours straight with contemporary acoustic music in the background to help me concentrate. That's all ya need to know about W.'s music tastes. 🤨]
Also, today I had the beauty of a privilege of coffee'ing it up with @alyssammiele, who sent me chasing after @billieeilish [context: #MSWL--a book featuring music]. Dang, lady--what beats. 😎 The public ought check this out: bit.ly/2MdHKVb.
Christian Sahner @ccsahnerThanks to @AARWeb and @ReadingReligion for a great review of Christian Martyrs under Islam: “This is an excellent and balanced book that I highly recommend for scholars and advanced students in every field related to the Middle East.” @PrincetonUPress readingreligion.org/books/christia…
Had the luck of starting—+ well on track to finishing—this terrific account of martyrdom under Islam; another example of a #MSWL NF for this agent in love with research. Hagiographies are studies of exp.; v. interesting to see personal/communal exps. contextualized historically.
A last thought for the eve, before W. descends into her multi-story-deep reading cavern. One #MSWL for NF: a recent acq. linked me to this 'practical philosophers' project' of @ReD_Associates, which aids biz theory: amzn.to/30EHuSu. Would love a project like this for me!
UniversalSuperStar @SuperStarAuthorAre you a #literary #agent that is looking to publish new authors? Or do you know of someone (a friend maybe, that works in the field) and that is currently accepting queries in the genre of romance drama? Let me know. #Author #LuckyBreak #AmQuerying #WritersLife #mswl #books
Always happy to look @ romance dramas on this end! #MSWL
I also happen to have a totally empty #query inbox as of 1.00am EST, and--two months into reading #manuscripts--still am on the hunt for a good thriller, women's fiction, and adult #fantasy and #scifi. I love good espionage, puzzles, and coding, & excellent female heroes. #MSWL
Amy J. @AmyJohnson895@WeronikaJanczuk Wondering if you're interested in YA dystopian/post-apocalyptic dealing with AI and a concept I call "human-zoos". I remember seeing a tweet once vaguely referencing something MSWL related. #mymemoryisgarbage
I am willing to look at anything, including YA dealing with AI! Execution is most important for this one. #MSWL
Have you heard that Markus Zusak has a new book forthcoming, a decade after THE BOOK THIEF? <-- This book blew my mind, and it's on my #MSWL to find something akin to it. And who wouldn't love the next M. Zusak? Details about his BRIDGE OF CLAY are here: bit.ly/2y9ylVa.
Random House @randomhouseWe're going live with @jodipicoult in a few minutes! Tune in here for live-coverage of her event with @bakerkline about her new novel, A SPARK OF LIGHT. On sale tomorrow! pic.twitter.com/gfl1rBFUc1
I remember when I first read @jodipicoult's MY SISTER'S KEEPER, years ago, and it rocked me--such a nuanced, intimate portrayal of the impact of an ethical question/crisis. So excited for the next novel, and please do send me anything you have in Picoult's vein here. #MSWL
I'm #MSWL-ing for re-tellings (#adult or #YA) of myths, folktales, or fairytales. Always. Bring it. More. Had the chance to look at #queries and pages for an @OpAwesome6 #passorpages, and had lots to say: bit.ly/2QisRya. I encourage you all to think through m'#querytip!
Still hungering for a really wonderful #thriller (any! but if you've got a female-led one, send it without hesitation!), and some really good adult #fantasy and #scifi. In #YA, don't hesitate: contemporary, boy voices, romance. Anything NEW and FRESH and EPIC. #MSWL
What is an agent thinking about when s/he's reading your query and first 250? Check out @OpAwesome6's newest #PassOrPages excerpts, on retellings of myths, folktales, and fairy tales (which I love! send if you have!): bit.ly/2NJgfDh. #queries #querytip #query #YA #MSWL
Has everyone seen the trailer for *Mary Poppins Returns*? If not, it's an absolute must: bit.ly/2D7ARjL. I'd absolutely love a #novel that captures something of the vibrant imagination, color, humor, and family life portrayed here! #MSWL
Last little toss in for #MSWL tonight, with guidelines on m'blog: bit.ly/2p3a5iO; looking for wide range of #YA & adult fiction!
Want to see some kickass sci-fi and science fantasy, and any epic fantasy that blows my mind with genre-bending world-building. Think HUGE!
It's still time for some #MSWL! Submission guidelines on m'blog: bit.ly/2p3a5iO; looking for wide range of YA & adult fiction!
Want to see, esp., v. smart romance, with smart humor (a la @rainbowrowell), and any literary or women's fiction featuring a healthy marriage.
Updated #MSWL on m'blog (bit.ly/2p3a5iO), but eager for a few things (beyond anything delightful):
*YA: literary sci-fi; anything science fantasy-esque
*thriller/crime: female-driven literary; intellectual puzzles/characters
*characters w/ intellectual, emotional gifts
