I have a miraculous 113 #queries left to read through--huge relief--and a stack of manuscripts, and if all goes well, I shall be ready to re-open to submissions as of 11/15. Please check my submissions page for updates as I go here: lightningbugspub.com/submissions/. #MSWL
On top of @say_shannon’s lovely PRIORY, just started @kuangrf’s debut, THE POPPY WAR, and so in love. Any super fun novels about tests + competitions, + passing them; trivia + puzzles; etc., ME WANTS. I’ll take the next, either, please, or anything @maxgladstone-esque. #MSWL
Hannah Bowman @hannahnpbowmanI’m going to jump off this thread to say that if you have milSF that deals with various military branches and the rivalries between them, I am SO interested. #MSWL twitter.com/sharon_kuruvil…
I would want to see this, too! Anything espionage-y, on top of this, please send me. Hoping for 11/15 as a query re-open. #MSWL
Sometimes, I want to email my favorite authors + say, "Can I steal you for my agenting self, I love you so much?" I think I may start, at some point, out of desperation. Please send me your goodies when I re-open. Thirsty for the best YA and adult fiction. Hoping for 11/15. #MSWL
#Siwc19 banquet conversation w/ @bradfordlit includeS reflections on the state of the industry + the low-rate divorce rate among writers of romance. I’ll soon be re-opening to #queries, + still thirsting for my next @rainbowrowell-esque ATTACHMENTS or ELEANOR & PARK. Plan. #mswl
I'm reading emails, queries, and tweets in the midst of a Saturday spent judging varsity debate rounds. Oh, would I love a debate novel (#MSWL), YA or adult either. The varsity resolution debates the degree to which standardized tests ought to be used during college admissions.
One of my #MSWL books is about a child or adult who is gifted: mcgt.net/checklist. <-- Questions for you, as parents and as teachers! Little gifted munchkins require a lot of support, in a particular way. Not quite the same, but...
I had the joy of completing a new interview with @DarlingAxe, + I cover preferred genres (#MSWL -- fiction + non-fiction, for YAs + adults), submissions, the industry, + good books. Check out the full interview here: bit.ly/2kZ1ten.
Ready to hit the sack. Thought through more exercises for really solid #fiction #writing, + hit this sweet spot bit.ly/2m1boQI. Would love any fiction [#MSWL] from anyone who's writing/thinking like this, especially any thrillers and crime fiction.
Beyond this, I have yet to ever go on submission with a good thriller or memoir, and so throwing out a desire these, in an especial way, but throw me any YA and adult fiction and non-fiction you've got, with some exceptions. Open to #queries like heck! #MSWL
I'd love a good novel that explores the affective/emotional life as a key plot development device. I'd also love of a novel that treats of healthy religiosity--for YAs or adults both. So often, religion is negatively grasped and/or understood as damaging. #MSWL
Check it out, check it out: "On Book Publishing as a Form of Value Investment" -- bit.ly/2ZBd6qU. That one time I took a break from #amreading for some #amwriting. Publishing is a biz that runs on maximizing the value of writers and thinkers. Keep queries coming. #MSWL
It's late at night, but I'm re-opening to queries as of tonight--anything of YA and adult, fiction and non-fiction. Whatever you've got! #MSWL Sub. guidelines here: lightningbugspub.com/submissions/. HIT ME UP, + please just be patient, as I catch up on dozens of pieces.
RE: the book on research about food allergies: I want to find books like this, so if you're an academic or an expert, EMAIL ME TOO. 😁 Working on 3-12 or so projects that would qualify, + would love more. Research research research, #ftw. #MSWL
Tonight, @JAWALSH_BOOKS + I had a brilliant, stimulating convo about brainstorming for breakout thrillers at the @thrillerwriters' #ThrillerFest19 cocktail. Throwing @axon_us out there--interesting tech to integrate into your fiction: axon.com . #thrillerfest #MSWL
Excited to see @DonMaass live for the first time, @thrillerwriters #thrillerfest, on ensuring that thrillers are actually thrilling; those books that prompt the experience of “thrill”—the sensation of being sharply and exhilaratingly excited; the tingle, the quiver... #MSWL
Kat Brzozowski @KatBrzozowski@WeronikaJanczuk @genevievejude Also love PEOPLE OF THE BOOK.
NICE. Well, there we go--one place of contact. I AM OBSESSED WITH THE FIRST SCENE. And everything else, of course: but really cool, gifted women scientists + otherwise... Bring it. Any day. Another #MSWL for the day I open to #queries. Hang. Tight.
On my love of "The Castle in the Sky," and other films of Hayao Miyazaki, of @StudioGhibli: bit.ly/2LInyJt. I'll be re-opening to queries 8/1, but if anyone has a story that is, in any way, reminiscent of the heart here, I want it. #MSWL
I'm joining the huge @thrillerwriters pre-festivities: If you're attending, + are writing a thriller, crime novel, or suspense, you have full-blown green light permission to QUERY ME NOW PLEASE (via email): bit.ly/2p3a5iO. Ignore closure. Desperate. #MSWL #thrillerfest
Also: an update, for anyone who is curious: W. will re-open to #queries on 8/1, after three conferences here and catching up some archived manuscripts + queries. #MSWL, for then (save the date!), includes a great thriller, contemp. YA, and adult sci-fi. bit.ly/2p3a5iO
