Aishy DHJ @adhj1So I read Now A Major Motion Picture by @CoriMcCarthy this week and I really appreciate the queer characters in the book and nobody (other characters) making it a big deal, they just are who they are. More of this please. In books AND IRL. Thanks.
Jennifer Ung @JenPandawe need more books about POC teens doing normal shiz -- falling in love, figuring out their future, etc., so their central conflict absolutely does not need to be about their identity. #askDVpit twitter.com/CharlixWrites/…
This is super specific #mswl, but would love something in the vein of Tsubasa/Shion's budding romance on Terrace House. Reality tv meetcute, but sweet and thoughtful rather than dramatic and over-the-top. (Netflix USA only has the first 8 eps so pls don't spoil for me!)
Mari Copeny @LittleMissFlintMy name is Mari. Im 10 years old. In April I will have been living through the #FlintWaterCrisis for 4 years, I've been fighting for almost as long. I want to be President when I grow up. But until then I will fight for #FlintKids pic.twitter.com/6LSKbxJP9t
More books about girls like Mari. #MSWL
BUT I want to see some modern magic realism, and some contemporary fantasy (think portal magic, magical bakeries/flower shops, lighthearted time travel in the vein of the movie About Time). Again, more modern/contemporary and less urban fantasy. #mswl
Gearing up to reopen to submissions (possibly in the next couple of weeks). I want to see more Middle Grade and Contemporary YA! Especially stories from POC and non-binary voices. Please no issue books. I want fully developed plots, strong hooks, and nuanced characters. #mswl
