Who’s going to write and query me an historical f/f or f/nb romance? I want the hopeful, penniless spinster to swoon at the dusty riding boots of the embittered, lonely duchesse #MSWL
(If you’ve got one, btw, you don’t have to wait for my QM to reopen. I want it 👀)

What's called “Women’s Fiction” but really, any marginalized gender MC with a personal journey as an A plot and romance as a B plot (if it's there at all) akin to SUCH A FUN AGE, BIG SUMMER, LUSTER, HOLLY BANKS FULL OF ANGST #MSWL

Mystery, in certain subgenres! I saw an editor #MSWL asking for “fresh cozies for millennial readers,” which, yes please! As in YA, I'm absolutley looking for queer mysteries. Some dislikes: No young children in harm’s way/being secretly evil. No cop MC’s or love interests.

I’ll to add to this that I’d *love* more adult romance and romcoms with non-binary MC’s and love interests, HUGE #MSWL

Onto adult! Romance across categories/romcoms, particularly queer and/or BIPOC. Anthing comped to Alyssa Cole, Olivia Waite, Cat Sebastian, Georgia Beers, Beverly Jenkins, Rebekah Weatherspoon, Talia Hibbert, Alexandria Bellefleur, Rosie Danan, Roselle Lim, Alisha Rai... #MSWL

Contemp YA with a fresh perspective, gorgeous prose, and a strong hook (a small ask). Some of my favorite reads in 2020: WHO I WAS WITH HER, YOU SHOULD SEE ME IN A CROWN, LOVE FROM A TO Z, COLOR ME IN, CAMP, PARACHUTES, DON’T READ THE COMMENTS, and THE SUMMER OF EVERYTHING #MSWL

Paranormal YA fantasy (can we just call it that again?) Vampires and vampiric beasties, especially queer, especially non-western versions—give me the manananggal! The pontianak! The estrie! But really, any creature that lives a little outside the mainstream and in shadows #MSWL

YA Magic Realism in its traditional meaning as a movement of Latin American fiction; here's a great article on the meaning of the genre as what Anna-Marie McLemore calls “a literary and cultural language," along with stellar examples #MSWL

Queer YA genre fiction of any kind. Fantasy, Mystery, Thriller (I didn't know I liked thrillers, but SURRENDER YOUR SONS got me this year), Sci-fi, Romance, Historical, Horror (as long as it's not too grisly; think Hill House, not Halloween). Most especially from QBIPOC #MSWL

Hey writers! As my QM page says, I’m closed to queries for the rest of the year, and aiming to respond to all queries within the next few weeks with a goal of opening up on January 4 (time and toddlers willing). So, what am I looking for in 2021? Here's a handy #MSWL thread:Jewish YA fantasy, from contemporary with “incidentally” Jewish characters to second-world fantasy with Judaism built into its bones. IN FACT, any ownvoices fantasy featuring or built around a minority religion (just, you know, be honest with yourself about what that means) #MSWL

For goodness sake, somebody PLEASE deliver my a plucky fun queer YA historical in the vein of Gentleman Jack #MSWL 🙏🏼It’s occurred to me that when I tweeted this, I wasn’t selling adult romance/WF. Now I am and good god, send me your joyous adult queer historical novels (and if you’ve already subbed me something like this, do feel free to bring it to my attention ☺️) #MSWL

I would truly love an SFF, YA or Adult, with queerness so baked into the world à la She-Ra that nobody even blinks. There’s danger and end-of-the-world stakes and messy relationships galore, but that particular threat is non-existant. This has been today’s #MSWL
