I know there are probably several things I'm missing, but me and the @WriteCraftQuest team did an entire video on social media etiquette and platform building.

Everyone will build their platform a little differently, but the more interactive of a following, the more receptive it'll be when you shout about your book. Don't be afraid to promote as long as your platform is not drenched in promotion.

Another tip is always, always, ALWAYS respect personal boundaries. We're all human and have different levels we want to interact with others and different uses for our social media platforms.

If you're writer and want to find other writers, there are some great writing events that happen each day. Two of my fave examples are #1linewed and #wickedaesthetics .
You can share some lines from you work with a different theme each week!

Another great tip is if you plan to use multiple social media platforms - like an instagram and twitter - create both with the same handle! As you build a network, it'll be easy for that network to find you.

Auto DMs can sound like an easy way of promoting your work to whoever follows you, but it's not.
The best way to promote is through engaging, tweeting regularly, and giving your followers a sense of who you are and what your work is about.

Another tip is don't set up auto DMs! This was a huge tip spread around when twitter first began but these don't help engagement at all. They come across as invasive and often lead to people turning away from you rather than engaging.

If you write YA, find other writers who do too!
If you want to find other publishing folks, follow some of those!
Consider what audience you want and what you want your social media platform to be.

Engage how you feel most comfortable, but engagement can go a long way in building long term relations and interactive followers.
My second tip is to follow people with similar interests/interests in which you want to build your platform.

Morning #writingcommunity ! Let's talk about some tips and tricks to help build your social media platform.I'm going to preface this thread by saying a platform is NOT a must have if you're a fiction writer, but it can help in some ways.
#writetip #pubtip
The most important piece of advice I can offer about building a platform is engagement. It's easy to follow a bunch of people, but if you're not engaging whether it's a comment, a poll, etc,, you won't be able to know your audience.
