What sub genre should I use to query a contemp romance with historical/time travel + paranormal/magical/fantasy elements? #AskKTLitThis sounds like a lot of dif elements in one ms. Find your dominant ones and go from there. #AskKTLit

@HannahFergesen @forrestertoknow Is it appropriate to include handle/blog url in contact information of query ltr?Including it in your sig with other contact info is great, yes. Same with twitter handle! #askKTLit

#AskKTLit Do look online presence in the form of blogging? How big a factor is this?Consensus at KT: If requesting pages, we'll definitely look to see if you have an online presence. #AskKTLit

@melaniejowrites @VoloCaballus @SaraMegibow Both! Either! Super helpful, right? #AskKTLitYes - I love to have MSWL in the subject line, then more depth in query #askKTLit

OK, I have a question for each of us! What's your top #MSWL item right now? #AskKTLitRight this moment I'm craving a witchy YA contemporary fantasy! #askKTLit

Is NA a hard-sell category? I have a last-year-of-college fantasy/light romance, and I wonder if it would be prudent to age up. #AskKTLitNA is definitely tough right now. If it can be shelved in romance, bring out those elements in your query instead #AskKTLit

#AskKTLit What is the cardinal sin of query letters? Thank you.For me, it's rhetorical questions. They don't tell me anything crucial about your story. #AskKTLit

In your sub guidelines it mentions to say in your query if an agent at KT has requested chaps before. Mention this at the first? #AskKTLitI personally would prefer to have it right off the bat. If you've workshopped it at all, I'd love to know that as well! #AskKTLit

@HannahFergesen How do you know when a draft is "good enough" to start querying knowing agents/editors will want revisions anyway? #AskKTLitI don't think there's a set # of drafts - workshopping is important! Cp's can let you know when they feel it's polished #AskKTLit

What trends are you seeing in your inboxes, & what do you wish you saw more of? #AskKTLitSeeing lots of Chosen One mss - not necessarily what I'm looking for, but I also see lots of MSWL, and that's great! #AskKTLit

@HannahFergesen If there's series potential, should one even mention that, or just focus on selling the first one first?I think you can mention potential - also mention if it CAN stand alone. Just no need to talk specifics about sequels #AskKTLit

Hannah Fergesen @HannahFergesen · 26 Sep 2016
I generally say no to delving into sequel/series ideas in your query - we'll delve into that if representation is offered! #AskKTLit
