First day of work @KnopfBFYR in 2020 calls for a #mswl!
- Middle grade! Give me camp & give me swimming & give me queerness, please!
- Not-for-everyone level weird/spec YA
- Can't-put-down voices
- Graphic novels! All ages, all genres, all above mswls apply to this format, too!

Marisa DiNovis @dinovisms · 2 Oct 2019

COUNTING TO PERFECT is one of my top three favorite MG novels of all time. Every time I go back to it, I find myself wishing for a novel written in vignettes (very short chapters ok too!) #mswl

Marisa DiNovis @dinovisms · 27 Sep 2019

I really, really, really want to see more submissions that play with form. YA and MG! Correct, I will never get off my soapbox about Jane, Unlimited. #mswl

Marisa DiNovis @dinovisms · 24 Sep 2019

Please send me the YA (or MG? Not sure!) on the #opioidcrisis. Possibly from the perspective of a student journalist personally impacted by it who to their core needs to DO SOMETHING about it?? I have a lot of feelings on why the kidlit world needs this; send it to me. #mswl

I’m seeing a ton of YA in my inbox lately (which is FAB, keep it coming!!) but wherefore art thou middle grade?! All genres! All formats! All ages within the category! I want it! #mswl

Marisa DiNovis @dinovisms · 13 Sep 2019

Some day, my middle grade or YA novel or graphic novel set at camp will come. (Right??? 😭) #mswl

Marisa DiNovis @dinovisms · 27 Aug 2019

- Graphic novels, all ages and genres (but especially middle grade) (!!!)
- Picture book texts with social emotional learning & maybe a nontraditional family structure—and sweep me off my feet with debut author-artists!
- The voicey-est YA
#mswl

Marisa DiNovis @dinovisms · 27 Aug 2019

It’s almost the end of August (😱)... so here are a few things I’d love to see in my inbox this fall:

- MIDDLE GRADE! (Specifically: queer and/or gender-expansive narratives; girls in sports; and still forever searching for my dream CAMP book & animal fantasy.) #mswl

Marisa DiNovis @dinovisms · 14 Mar 2019

Middle grade animal (or animal-adjacent...) (light) fantasy, because I still desperately need something to fill the Wild Robot-shaped hole in my heart. 🤖💖 #mswl

Marisa DiNovis @dinovisms · 12 Feb 2019

Where are all the girls and/or queer kiddos who are really into sports in kid lit? The narratives about relationships with your body and your friends and your crushes, through the lens of your athleticism and relationship to sports? #MG and #YA! #mswl

Marisa DiNovis @dinovisms · 22 Jan 2019

A heavily illustrated middle grade to fill the WILD ROBOT & THE WILD ROBOT ESCAPES-shaped hole in my heart 🤖 #mswl

Marisa DiNovis @dinovisms · 9 Jan 2019

Let's kick off 2019 with #mswl! I'd love to see:
- LGBTQ+ middle grade and YA, any genre, any time period!
- Contemporary YA with a spec twist (think Still Life with Tornado or Dig)
- Literally ANYTHING that evokes Tillie Walden's On a Sunbeam
- Graphic novels or memoirs

Marisa DiNovis @dinovisms · 27 Nov 2018

My annual it’s-dark-outside-at-4pm #mswl for a YA or middle grade narrative set at summer camp has arrived right on schedule. The more queer the better, must have emotional stakes, graphic novels welcome.

Marisa DiNovis @dinovisms · 19 Nov 2018

When I was a kid/teen, I had so many complicated feelings about myself, my body, and my peers in all things related to sports (swimming’ll do that). I would LOVE to find a middle grade or YA narrative that takes on this kind of emotional arc. #mswl

Marisa DiNovis @dinovisms · 12 Sep 2018

It's #mswl day! Ok, so...
- queer girl contemp realistic graphic novels in YA
- & lgbtq+ characters and stories in any format and genre for any age, but especially MG
- found/chosen family narratives in YA
- sex-positive YA
- Own Voices stories w/ South & Central America settings

Marisa DiNovis @dinovisms · 19 Aug 2018

Lots of questions @FlameCon panels about queer narratives writers still want to see/might not have been told yet. For me, it's mutual crushing between queer girls, for middle grade readers. #mswl

Marisa DiNovis @dinovisms · 23 Jul 2018

I recently read (and adored) @Barbaradee2's STAR-CROSSED and @ashleyhblake's IVY ABERDEEN'S LETTER TO THE WORLD, and now more than ever I would really, really, really love to see more queer girl middle grade in my inbox. #mswl

Marisa DiNovis @dinovisms · 8 Mar 2018

According to @KristinaForest, I look like a spoken-word poet in my black turtleneck so obviously YA/MG in verse is my #mswl of the moment
