#MSWL - I want super ambitious YA stories that feel like they somehow break the paradigm. I'd love to see multi-generational stories, stories told from odd points of view (think A.S. King!) and stories that play with genre. I want to get WEIRD in 2021!

#MSWL - something big, sweeping, ROMANTIC. I love love and I love romantic stories, whether they're romantic comedies or sweeping love stories. I want to see love against the odds stories.

#MSWL - literary MG standalone. I'm still thinking of some of my fav reads of 2020 and a lot of the books my mind can't let go of are MG standalone novels, whether contemporary or not. Think THE LINE TENDER, and if you ever want to talk about that book, I'm here. It's SO GOOD.

#MSWL - YA or MG paranormal: vampires, werewolves, oh my! Particularly interested in paranormal from underrepresented points of view and stories that bring something new to the genre. Related: contemp fantasy a la LEGENDBORN, a 2020 fav, too.

#MSWL - MG series with big concepts and high stakes. Think NEVERMOOR, THE SCHOOL FOR GOOD AND EVIL, upcoming AMARI & THE NIGHT BROTHERS, etc.

#MSWL: twisty, unputdownable YA thrillers, mystery and suspense. Think Tiffany D. Jackson, Courtney Summers, Karen McManus.

#mswl for 2021 - messy protagonists.

Hello! Just a #MSWL reminder as we look ahead to next year: I'm hungry for MG and YA across all categories, and particularly excited to find MG series/SFF/adventure and YA paranormal, contemporary, and thrillers/mysteries...and anything fun & soapy or spine-tingling & spooky!

I’m eager to find YA thrillers, mysteries, psychological suspense that are brilliantly plotted. Think the work of Tiffany D. Jackson, Lamar Giles, E. Lockhart’s WE WERE LIARS, Karen McManus, etc. All would love to find original horror like WILDER GIRLS. #mswl

I’d love some love stories across genres: rom-coms, sweeping love stories, romantic fantasies, paranormal romance, etc. #mswl

I want both MG and YA paranormal. And while it doesn’t need to be paranormal romance, let’s be real: I love romance. I love love. So if you’re writing a paranormal romance with a sweeping, high stakes story, I’d love to take a look! #mswl

I am eager for paranormal. I started agenting not too long after the paranormal wave had already crested, and I think it’s high time for it to come back, but to be more inclusive. Give me some fresh takes on your favorite paranormal creatures and tropes! #mswl

In addition to commercial MG series, I’m eager for strong middle grade contemporaries with singular voices and that pull no punches. #mswl

First and foremost: MIDDLE GRADE. I am extremely hungry for a big middle grade series with stellar world building, cool magic, and a strong emotional core. I love my middle grade with lots of heart that works hand-in-hand with the high stakes adventure. #mswl

Anyhow, graphic novels are high up on my #mswl at the moment! They've been a big source of company during the lockdown.

#MSWL!

#MSWL - books where the setting & premise are woven together. A rambling hotel or estate (I'm looking at you, @EBain!), a small town with secrets, a cruise ship, a sprawling library, a museum (would love a MIXED UP FILES or a NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM type book) etc.

#MSWL - middle grade exploring crushes, loves, and heartbreak. My heart was pretty much constantly being broken in 6th grade. Let’s talk about it.

#MSWL - YA rom coms and love stories!
