I’m feeling really great about where I’m at with my QM, so I decided to reopen just for a tiny bit before summer. I’ll post a more detailed #MSWL later today but I’ve reopened to Adult, which I haven’t done for a while, and I’m still extremely interested in MG.

(My website still says closed but I’m driving all day and can’t change it until later. QM genres are open.)

I approach genre as a tool for positioning & a context that authors are in conversation with. I love stories that blend, complicate, or reimagine the boundaries of their genre(s)!

But I’m usually NOT the best fit for dystopian, horror, or thrillers/pure suspense.

FORMATS:
I just did the deal for books 12 & 13 in my first 12 months as an S&S editor (🎉)—and many of them are picture books! (My first & forever love.)

So this year, I’m especially eager to acquire more MG and YA: novels/verse, graphics, nonfiction.

Travel adventure with lots of banter a La THE LOST CITY

Something with fluff that gives you the same heartwarming, feet-kicking feeling of a teen movie from the early 2000s

OUTERBANKSxGLASS ONION within small towns with a young cast of characters solving mysteries and riddles.

I want to represent underrepresented voices with specific interest in Latinx/Hispanic/Indigenous characters and authors. I’m looking for dynamic characters facing intersectional issues.

In both YA and Adult/NA I want plot forward books, generational stories, female-driven, complex families. Magical realism, especially when linked to Hispanic origins.

In adult I’m looking for fantasy, commercial new adult stories with characters still figuring out their lives and dealing with adult concepts for the first time, contemporary romance and all the tropes!

In YA I want rich world building with strong and clear magic system and am open to romance as central part of the plot. I love retellings of classic stories, realistic fiction with mystery, thriller, heist/spies and untrustworthy characters
