@LindaEpstein Late again! If I had seen #askLindalitagent in time: In an interview, one agent said he responds to every sub. I received no reply/ confirmation last year. He could have changed policy or never received. I have completely revised the MS. Would it be out of line to re-submit?What do you have to lose?

@LindaEpstein Hi Linda, another picture book question. What is your sweetspot for wordcounts for PB fiction and PB non fiction? Thanks. #askLindalitagentI think PB fiction works best in the 500 word +/- range but there are always exceptions to that guideline. Non fiction really depends upon what age group the subject matter is for & how much extra material is included (side bars & whatnot).

@LindaEpstein Hi Linda, when you re-open will you be accepting PB submissions? If so, what is likely to be on your wishlist? Thanks. #askLindalitagentI wish I could answer this better but I really don't know when I will re-open & I don't know if I'll be accepting PB submissions, but when I do & if I am I will definitely be looking for ms from BIPOC writers. Other than that I can't say.

@LindaEpstein Thank you for this! I recently finished a middle or upper-middle grade contemporary but am nervous about swearing issues. What kind and amount of swearing is acceptable? #askLindalitagentI mean, nothing is definitive of course, but I'd say no F bombs for sure, or anything stronger than heck/hell, darn/damn. It doesn't matter what language someone that age might really use it's more about that middle grade readers are 8-12 years old so, you know...

@LindaEpstein Hi! Thank you for opening up your account for questions.Does it make a difference to agents if you're in the same country as them?
Asking because I'm in Switzerland and most agencies are not here...
Some agents might care only because if you're selling to the US market & live elsewhere it could be more difficult for you to promote your work (in more normal times) in person. I have clients in Europe, Australia, & North America though so 🤷🏻♀️

@sarah_aronson #askLindalitagentWith publishing folks WFH some things are slower than usual, even for publishing. Others (editor response times!) seem to be a little quicker? I think publishers will be more cautious about what they take on. I think digital only ARCs might be a thing.
I do imagine that there will be many books that include, if not feature, being in quarantine, losing folks to the virus, managing emotions about it all, etc... People are writing NOW & we all are going through this so, it's to be expected.

@sarah_aronson #askLindalitagentThere's really no way for anyone to know how books will be changed by Covid, unless we could see into the future, because we don't know what the world will look like on the other side of this, right?

@LindaEpstein Here is a question we didn't get to this morning: How do you see Covid changing books in the future? (in terms of content) How is it affecting the business of publishing? #askLindaagent#askLindalitagent
