I’m on a serious hunt for a funny, commercial middle-grade mystery series a la Stuart Gibbs. Sharp characters, a strong voice, and neat plotting, pretty please. #MSWL

I would love to find a suspenseful YA mystery/thriller that plays with form, chronology, or narration. It’s is a great genre to play around with social constructs, too, and I love subversion. (Think: Gillian Flynn) #MSWL

Intersectionality is really important to me, and I’d be very excited to see all of the below featuring characters that are not straight or are not white (or both). #MSWL

And I gotta tell you, I’m in the mood for happy endings or ambiguously hopeful ones, at least. I know I'm not alone. #MSWL

Generally speaking, I’m a voice-first reader who is looking for escapism and/or laughter, boundary-pushing, and writers brave enough to flip conventions on their heads. Surprise me! #MSWL

Being very picky with everything but especially YA, although I never say never!

I love layered manuscripts. New and different twists. Multiple market hooks. Themes that still resonate universally.

Immersive worlds, radiant voices from the first line, things that are familiar but have their own unique twist, and always with relatable but currently relevant themes. Laughter is great but I'm not the best fit for comedy.

What I learned about myself this week: If anything can convince me to watch a TV show, it's an armpit kiss.

That kind of smolder is always on my #MSWL.
