In non-fiction, I’m looking for big ideas, smart thinking, anything which interrogates a particular subject or idea with a fresh perspective. And always on the lookout for gripping and authentic true crime #mswl

Also worth mentioning that I’m fascinated with both chess and labyrinths – anything that involves either (or both!) will definitely be of interest, whether genre or more literary #mswl

I’m fascinated with folklore, fables, fairy-tales, mythology – anything which works these elements into its narrative will definitely grab my attention, whether that’s in the crime/thriller, historical or literary space #mswl

I’m always open to horror or stories with a darker edge. I typically enjoy horror that digs into larger ideas or concepts – something like THE BABADOOK or IT FOLLOWS films would be really exciting #mswl

In historical fiction, I’m looking for anything rich and beautifully-written which explores a particular time and place with real authority and feeling. For example, I just read Leila Slimani’s THE COUNTRY OF OTHERS and loved it #mswl

I’m a huge fan of classic detective fiction, everything from Agatha Christie to Raymond Chandler, and really keen to find something in this area, whether more conventional or with a high-concept/speculative twist. Would love a gripping locked-room mystery #mswl

I’m not so good with cosy crime – I definitely react more strongly to crime/thrillers with a darker edge #mswl

I’m keen for all kinds of crime and thrillers, from police procedurals to psychological thrillers to anything high-concept with a big hook. I read very widely in this area so open to almost anything, whether commercial or more literary #mswl

At the moment I’m looking for crime and thrillers, book club fiction, historical fiction, literary fiction, true crime and non-fiction written by journalists or experts in their respective fields #mswl
