In YA, I’m looking for things at the upper end of the spectrum, and in the crossover space. I want YA with lyrical prose, heartfelt stories, and that take the feelings of young people seriously. I love I’ll Give You the Sun, All My Rage, We Are Okay, and Everything Sad is Untrue.

I’m picky with fantasy, and tend to go more for light fantasy (think The Raven Cycle. Buffy, or Ninth House). High fantasy needs to be accessible and character driven (a la Sarah J Maas).

I love retellings! Give me your Lizzie Bennet Diaries, your Ten Things I Hate About You. Really, I’m looking for this tweet in book form:

I’m drawn to family stories, especially sibling dynamics and multigenerational sagas. I also love a quirky story with a specific setting or niche community.

I am a certified EmHen girly! If you can meld swoon-worthy romance, beautiful prose, and, crucially, the exploration of the real (emotional and tangible) issues that young women face like Emily Henry does, I’m all in. I want books that earnestly believe in love the way EmHen’s do

I love a speculative twist and will always be in for a bit of magic. I’m looking for things like Addie Larue, Jane the Virgin, and Extraordinary. I also love a non-horror ghost story, where the ghosts have larger meaning. Give me Hill House and Watch Over Me.

Books with really strong settings regardless of genre are a must for me!

Whether its a romcom somewhere gorgeous, a crime novel where the setting is a direct external threat, or just a chance to experience somewhere I've never been before... I love armchair travel! #mswl

I'd love some horror too! I have recently listened to NEVER WHISTLE AT NIGHT and I loved it. I am looking for supernatural elements, creepy folklore and amazing atmospheric settings rather than tons of blood/gore. #mswl

I'm still desperately looking for something like THREE HOURS by Rosamund Lupton, both in sense of themes (issues driven suspense) and execution. I just couldn't put that book down and it left me with all kinds of emotions.
