And I'm still looking for a middle grade animal story to add to my list (I’ve been looking for over a decade…). Examples: Pax by Sara Pennypacker, Silverwing by Kenneth Oppel, A Wolf Called Wander by Rosanne Parry, Santa Paws by Nicholas Edwards. #MSWL

Illustrated graphic novels and graphic nonfiction by individual author/illustrators. MG, YA, Adult. The art needs to cleverly utilize the comics storytelling format. I’m not looking at script-only submissions at the moment. #MSWL

And of course, I can’t stay away from gorgeously written MG fantasy. There’s a lot of it out there though, so I need to read a truly unusual concept to keep my interest. #MSWL

I love MG novels featuring characters with specific, compelling interests. A pre-teen who has built their entire personality around That Thing they love. The more obscure, the better. #MSWL

In MG, I’m still looking for the perfect animal story! Think Silverwing, Pax, even Watership Down or Bunnicula. This could go in so many directions—I just really love animal characters! #MSWL

When it comes to graphic novels (for all ages—MG, YA, or Adult), most of the submissions I receive are fantasy. I would love to work on more realistic stories. Maybe even some horror! #MSWL

And to round out my Middle Grade #MSWL with some speculative items: chilling horror is always my jam, and I want to read your luscious, weird, wow-this-worldbuilding-is-fantastic fantasies.

I would also love contemporary Middle Grade novels with a strong emphasis on nature: animal stories, environmental themes, unusual settings. #MSWL

I'm consistently wishing for more Middle Grade novels in my inbox, especially ones based on myths and traditions from various cultures. I love learning about regional histories, real or not, through stories and lore. #MSWL
