Olympic-related #MSWL: A reminder that that I'd love more narrative nonfic/memoir by athletes or about extreme sports. I'm obsessed with stories about what the human body is capable of. I recently watched the doc It's Easy Until It's Not—I'd love stories about events like this!
Thought of another one for the #MSWL: I'm always looking for memoir/narrative nonfic about extreme sports, athletes, & adventure (think ALONE ON THE WALL, BORN TO RUN). Brought to you by me going nuts over the Olympic trials (Sha'Carri Richardson!!!).
8. During quarantine I've played a lot of video games. I'd love some MG & YA fiction, or adult fiction & nonfiction about video games (Homages to games? Deep-dive histories? Esports stories?). I am a lifelong Zelda, Monkey Island, & Harvest Moon fanatic.
Erin Clyburn @erin_clyburnI am down to zero queries & three subs in my query box. (I hope to hit inbox zero by July 1, but time will tell.) Either way, I'm looking forward to opening to queries July 1! Here's a little #MSWL for when I reopen:

1. Food-centric fic & nonfic. I would love to see narrative nonfic deep dives into culinary history & people whose stories haven't been told. Essay collections about food intersecting with culture, politics, social justice. & in fic, MG, YA, & adult fic where food plays a role.
In adult nonfiction, I'm still looking for untold histories, memoirs with a big hook especially if they are extreme sports or adventure stories, pop science, cookbooks, & culinary histories. Again, send me your weirds.
Erin Clyburn ~closed to queries~ @erin_clyburnOne of my dream #MSWL items is an adventure novel that reads like a film like FREE SOLO or THE BARKLEY MARATHONS feels. An edge-of-your-seat outdoors story with near-superhuman athleticism. I’ve spent all of quar hiking & watching ALONE so I’ve had too much time to dwell on this.
This could also be narrative nonfic if you are the outdoorsy superhuman in question! #MSWL
Erin Clyburn @erin_clyburnToday I learned all about Lena Richard, a New Orleanian & the first Black woman to host her own cooking show (also a chef, restaurateur, entrepreneur, & cookbook author). My dad’s family has been in New Orleans since the 1800s, & I’d never heard of Lena. 1/2
I’d LOVE to rep a project about Lena Richard. Narrative nonfiction? A cultural history of Black New Orleans food that centers Lena? A bio of Lena through a lense like The Cooking Gene? If you’d like to take this on (are already taking this on?!), query me please. 2/2 #MSWL #BVM
Morning, y'all! An update to my #MSWL:
I'm no longer accepting queries for picture books or chapter books. I'm going to focus on MG, YA, & adult fic & nonfic. Check out my fresh new list & see if we might be a match.
I started THE RADIUM GIRLS right before this whole business began, which has been weird, but wow, what a stunning, horrifying book. It will enrage, then enrage you more that workers are similarly fighting for humane rights 100 years later. (Also, #MSWL: nonfiction like this.)
Oh, hello! At long last, my #MSWL page is up! I will try to keep this as up to date as possible. (I also regularly tweet things I'm looking for here.) Check it out:

I'm hungry for middle grade. I would also love more literary YA. & I would love an adult memoir/nonfic with an amazing hook (think MY BRAIN ON FIRE, EDUCATED, or FULL BODY BURDEN, not that summer you spent nannying in Europe [I'm sorry but I see so many queries like this]). #MSWL
An engaging adult nonfiction project about a historical figure(s) whose story hasn't been told. (Same goes for a picture book bio.) My dream would be an adult bio with a science component, like The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. #MSWL
