Make sure your whole draft is as polished as your 1st pages. Nothing is as disappointing for an agent as loving a sample/partial and finding out the rest doesn’t hold up to its standard! #querytip #amwriting #amquerying #amrevising

In speaking for ourselves: BookEnds agents specifically spend a lot of time sharing their likes & dislikes, wants & turn-offs. We share interviews we've done & we also send out submission updates, genres we're opening/closing to, etc. etc. #amwriting #amagenting

But in general- make sure you check out hashtags like those above (#querytip #amquerying) as well as #MSWL #AmWriting #Writetip. Check the feed of each agent you're specifically planning to query. You might learn your project isn't a great fit for them but better for a colleague

When querying, or preparing to query, make sure you follow agents on Twitter and take notes on their comments. A #thread! #amquerying

Before you hit send on that email, you should always do your research. Submission guidelines, maybe read interviews, and yes, Twitter! Because: knowing what often triggers rejection for each specific agent will help you avoid it! #querytip #amwriting #amquerying
