Naomi Davis, Literary Agent (she/they)
Picture books (fiction or NF) that show neurodiversity, disability, LGBTQ+ family structures, diaspora or immigrant experiences
Adult NF: I'm interested in cookbooks that teach me something new about the world
Toni Rhodes @rhodestonib@NaomisLitPix Are u looking for kidlit?
Yes, certain genres! MG fantasy and contemp, YA contemp, and picture books with certain themes on my #MSWL
#MSWL On the picture book side, I am looking for stories that deal with different levels of ability, and stories with LGBTQ+ families. Also some hilarious and unexpected wordplay like THE WONKY DONKEY.
#MSWL Would also really love to see more picture book and YA contemporary stories written by Native American/First Nations, Metis, or Inuit creators. Authors or author/illustrators welcome.
I'm only open to picture books that fit my #MSWL - right now, I want heartwarming pbs that address special needs, LGBTQ+ families, or diaspora experiences.
Also, funny word-play books like THE WONKY DONKEY.
Naomi Davis @NaomisLitPixBut when agent screws up, authors sometimes have trust issues.I get it, totally. Please don't hesitate to query me & talk opwnly if you were recently impacted by 1 of these events where an agent didn't do their job according to industry standards.I would love to see your work. 2/
#MSWL Adult and YA fantasy, sci fi, romance. Picture books featuring diversity, food, or fun word play. Middle grade based on unique mythologies, and always, diversity across all spectrums including LGBTQ, authors/characters of color, and neurodiversity. Queryme.online/naomidavis
My kids told story this AM of random household objects having a party while I slept (the chapstick, the glasses, the cookie jar etc - the vitamins were NOT invited) and I thought this would make a cute PB! #mswl
#MSWL I am always seeking picture books featuring any elements of diversity! Including but not limited to racially diverse characters, LGBTQ+ themes, unique family arrangements, non-NT characters. #picturebook #kidlit
I love certain messages in PBs and am always seeking LGBTQ+ diverse & neurodiverse voices in PBs. But remember: story needs to be written for KIDS who read those books, not the parents/adults, in order for the message to be absorbed. Make it fun AND informative. #querytip #MSWL
After a discussion about hummus yesterday that led me to use the phrase "hummus in my tummus" I'm really wanting to see picture books with playful words like this. #mswl
