Okay, agent friends, it's #MSWL time! I'm an Associate Editor at Penguin Workshop, looking for middle grade and YA, as well as graphic novels in both categories. I love historical fiction, fantasy, and mysteries, and if you have something that combines those elements in a clever way, send it to me!

right now, I am particularly thirsty for queer romance (high concept, speculative, or historical), grounded fantasy (cozy or literary > epic), and literary fiction about gender and the body, queer and trans histories and futures, and characters who are trying hard to imagine a kinder world.

I'd love to find more thrillers and suspense (especially with a horror edge), and general commercial and upmarket fiction. Give my colleagues a try for romantasy and literary fiction!

In book club fiction: I also want to cry when it comes to this genre (am I ok) but also love heartwarming stories, especially those that center around unique experiences. Books about family, friendship, etc that can speak to larger themes.

In romance: Lately I’ve been wanting timeless stories that are devastating and make me cry. I also still love a good rom-com but the voice really has to stand out and I want a fresh take on the tropes!

In Mystery/Suspense, I'm here for whodunits that are semi-cozy, like books by Richard Osman or Nita Prose. Also note the settings (retirement community, hotel), love the idea of a mystery in a monastery or botanical garden, where place is super visual. I <3 unexpected, underestimated sleuths. #MSWL
