These are books that do fun things w/genre boundaries and/or hit "gap" areas of the market: voice-y lower MG, adventurous (or romantic) upper MG/lower YA, upper YA & New Adult.

#MSWL I’d love some fun, voice-y school dramas both MG and YA. Kids scheming things, kids getting away with things, kids having adventures on fieldtrips gone awry!

And I'm happy to look at projects with unusual formats like The Tapper Twins series.

#MSWL Looking for something that gives Jennifer A. Nielsen's THE FALSE PRINCE vibes, though this doesn’t have to be fantasy.

I'm more thinking of something with an interesting, tightly bounded setting, easy to read but emotionally charged prose, and a twist.

#MSWL I’d love to see some YA, NA, or Adult projects set on the set of a non-U.S. TV show/movie!

Probably not reality show based (unless the show has a an all BIPOC cast) so more that the set is just the setting w/the heart of the story elsewhere.

I've said this before, but I've been thinking about it a lot in light of the first woman finisher, #MSWL : A dream nonfiction project of mine is a book about the Barkley Marathons that is as Tennessee-spirited & compelling as the '14 "The Race That Eats Its Young" doc.

A personal reading update in case it’s helpful to see what I’m into right now! I adored How To End a Love Story & Funny Story. I’ve loved Yulin Kuang since her YouTube days, and her debut is funny, romantic, & emotional. And, of course, EmHen remains the romcom queen. #mswl
