#MSWL fantasy w/ a translator protag. There's so much power in language-- how they translate for a ruler effects a whole kingdom, eg. I want to see the nuances & consequences of deciding how & what to translate, word play between languages, times when translation falls shortOMG yes. #MSWL

Expanding on my #MSWL - THREAD:I want to see wild, original fantasy. So if you're thinking, "Well, my manuscript isn't what ppl typically expect from fantasy... there are no elves or enchanted woods or elemental creatures, but really different fantasy elements..." QUERY ME PLZ

Badass ladies. I love women who take charge. I am more intrigued by Sansa and Brienne than Ayra. Even Dany has her moments for me. Women often play second fiddle to men in the world, so I love a woman who won't be held back.

"Magic always comes with a price". I love consequences. So much of the fantasy I love is driven by characters make decisions and then dealing with the consequences of those actions.

I am obsessed with lady knights. We often see fantasy that is based off our Western courtly behavior. But I love inversions of that. So if even if your novel is not based in Western culture (and yay for that) show me the inversions of your world.

So I've decided to take a moment at talk about the type of fantasy I like so that people have more context when they see my #MSWL. Now these are just some parameters, but honestly, I am looking for fresh and different spins.I love court intrigue fantasy. There is something so fascinating about people with power and they moves they do to keep that power. The psychology and code of behaviors is fascinating to see.

As I near the end of my requested material (only 4 manuscripts left), I want to talk about the type of book I am dying to see more of in my queries. I'll use comps where I can so you have an idea of the flavor I am searching for.I want a lush fantasy that is character driven. I want writing that sweeps me away with its beauty but keeps me enthralled in the plot. #MSWL
