#MSWL I had a MG Wolf shapeshifter story slip through my fingers and I was slightly devastated. If you have one (and they're not actually called werewolves), I want it. I'm still hesitant on the vampires unless done differently, but wolves... Wolves are a must!
#MSWL As always, I'm so in love with YA. Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Contemporary, Historical, etc.. The things I'm not all that into are actually time travel (in any age range) and alternate dimensions (as of right now...little tired of them...).
Meredith @Gryphongirl2007@LitAgentKelly @SaadiaFaruqi Yesss. I love the “what-if’s” the most - like what if she HAD married Prince Edward of England? What if she HAD gained the English throne instead of Elizabeth? What if Francis HADN’T died? What if she had made different choices in Scotland and HADN’T been forced to flee?
There's also so much questioning around what really happened, since it was so long ago and not many people really liked her, so I feel like there's very little actual information/truth! I'd love to see someone's interpretation based on history! #MSWL #MaryQueenofScots
#MSWL MG Diverse and LGBTQIA+ voices. Middle grade is really some of the toughest years of my life, and anything that can help them realize it's okay to be different, is helpful. Love ghost stories and stories of crushes and friendship at this age.
#MSWL My Adult Romance loves are enemies to lovers tropes, as well as best friend to lovers tropes, and I really fall for some wounded military heroes and alpha males with a strong softness, as well as women who can hold their own but realize they don't necessarily need to.
#MSWL I think I need another adult romance manuscript in my life. I really seem to like romances that straddle the border between romance and WF, with enough growth that makes the romance believable, but based enough on the romance that without it, you wouldn't have a story.
#MSWL My ET preference is more so that I don't want the story to be ONLY on the emotional turmoil of depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, etc.. There has to be another story in there for me to latch onto. I personally don't want to spend that much time in a darker emotional state.
#MSWL Also fully watching The Crown and Reign right now and looking for court intrigue, especially in courts we haven't seen much from! Mary Queen of Scots? The Spain monarchy? Maybe French Sun King type of court intrigue? Especially with LGBTQIA+ characters and maybe magic?
It's #MSWL day, and I'll be doing a thread right here throughout the day! Remember if you're ready to submit your manuscript and see me ask for it today with the hashtag, feel free to go over to @SavvyAuthors WriterCon Pitchfest and pitch me your work! 😍 savvyauthors.com/blog/pitch-boo…
Also, I've started watching Reign, and I hate to admit it but I really miss court intrigue and historical YA. 😭 But can I get Greer's story being in love with the cook instead of Mary, Queen of Scots royalty like story? Greer is definitely my favorite romance. #MSWL
Quressa Robinson (she/her/queen) @qnrisawesome@bhvide I would love to see stories about bucking gender roles as a girl who loves wearing pants and dresses, but it would be nice for the girl to become a knight without having to hide her gender and in a dress even. I loved how it was handled in ATLAB.
This. 👇🏻 Seconding this #MSWL.
I'm still running on U.K. time, so I'm a little exhausted, but I'm super excited to be at the Hilton and getting prepped and ready for #WDC18 #pitchSlam tomorrow! If you have MG, YA, or Adult romance, fantasy, futuristic sci-fi, or anything on my #MSWL, come pitch me tomorrow!
Guys, I need a pirate manuscript in my life ASAP. Who has one they can query me with? I need to relive my favorite books right now. Bonus points if you have a character with a personality or traits like Tia Dalma/Calypso with a hard pirate/sailing edge. #MSWL
Seriously, Brooklyn is my new favorite movie and it makes me so happy every time I turn it on. I ordered it on DVD on 2-day delivery just so I can bring it to the U.K. With me and force @writerShanna to watch it. 😂 Anyone have a YA historical like this? #MSWL
Kaitlyn Johnson @kaitylynne13#MSWL #LGBT How about hist fic where nobleman's WIFE finds a mistress and must conceal their love? 😍
I second this #MSWL. I'd totally also be down for a historical where a woman is married and knows her husband is in love with another man, but they're best friends, so she helps him hide it from the public, or vice versa. Read one like this once and am still in love with it.
