Specific #MSWL :
A fun, pace-y (maybe humorous) mystery series for MG or YA à la A STUDY IN CHARLOTTE, TROUBLE IS A FRIEND OF MINE, THE FOURTH STALL, Stuart Gibbs’ SPACE CASE or FunJungle books, or an updated Nancy Drew or Trixie Belden (especially Trixie Belden!).

Specific #MSWL :
I’d love a snappy, highly commercial YA series with a sticky hook and a memorable/endearing main character; probably contemporary (any subgenre), comparable to what GALLAGHER GIRLS was but with an unrelated premise.

These are not every #MSWL item I’ve ever posted (since some of those are broad) but just the specific things in the image below (and also 🧵'd in tweets below), so if you have something that fits an item on this list, feel free to send it my way on the link at the end of this 🧵:

#MSWL In response to the characters-in-college discourse, I'm *definitely* looking for projects w/characters in college (trade school, etc.)!
Give me college romance, college adventure, college heists, fantasy colleges, colleges in space!! Looking for both upper YA & New Adult!

#MSWL Remember those YA romantic dystopian books from 10-15 years ago? LEGEND, SHATTER ME - I even count HUNGER GAMES here. I'd LOVE to see some new, fresh romantic dystopian!
(No plague-based books or books where the world is dystopian because it's misogynist, though, please.)

#MSWL I’m also always on the look out for:
✨genre mixing projects!
✨gap area projects!
These are books that do fun things w/genre boundaries and/or hit "gap" areas of the market: voice-y lower MG, adventurous (or romantic) upper MG/lower YA, upper YA & New Adult.

#MSWL I’d love some fun, voice-y school dramas both MG and YA. Kids scheming things, kids getting away with things, kids having adventures on fieldtrips gone awry!
And I'm happy to look at projects with unusual formats like The Tapper Twins series.

#MSWL I’d love to see some YA, NA, or Adult projects set on the set of a non-U.S. TV show/movie!
Probably not reality show based (unless the show has a an all BIPOC cast) so more that the set is just the setting w/the heart of the story elsewhere.
Literary Agent
#MSWL Would love some nouveau riche casts in material too! Probably most interested in international settings for Adult work, though happy to see U.S. settings too especially in YA.
MG, YA, NA/Adult welcome. Genre mixing or SFF w/same vibes welcome! Would love BIPOC casts!

#MSWL I'm a sucker for epic, historical feeling fantasy worlds, but I'd love to see more epic, modern feeling secondary fantasy worlds and worlds that gorgeously blend historical & modern too!
High stakes & romance get my attention well. MG, YA, Adult/New Adult all welcome!

#MSWL I'd love an Adult/New Adult Harry Potter—witches, wizards, possibly academia (without the JK Rowling baggage of course).Like THE MAGICIANS but even more accessible and with a strong romance.
I'd be happy to see this in YA too!!! #MSWL

#MSWL In MG in particular, I'd love to see more urban fantasy adventures like Percy Jackson featuring casts of really loveable characters in really epic situations.
Upper MG, YA crossover, and YA like LEGENDBORN is definitely welcome too!

#MSWL I'd love a non-Western✨ vampire ✨book.
MG, YA, & Adult all welcome.
For MG: likely adventure/fantasy based w/magic and/or non-Western mythology.
For the rest: fantasy set in a non-Western world w/sharp stakes & a romance.
Could be 1st or 2nd world fantasy.

#MSWL In YA (& MG), more "study/adventures abroad" books featuring teens in non-American locations, especially if the locations are non-Western and the stories star really robust casts of BIPOC characters.
Think ONE TRUE LOVES, I'M NOT HERE TO MAKE FRIENDS, & LOVEBOAT, TAIPEI.

#MSWL Basically any rom-com or romantasy (adult, new adult, or YA) that can give me CRAZY RICH ASIANS vibes.
And I'm also looking for YA in *any* category that can do the same.

#MSWL I'd also love a YA story about high school tennis players. Give me fun, give me rivalry -- bonus points if it can also pull off TWEET CUTE vibes!

#MSWL : sports romances! Especially queer and/or BIPOC.
I was hugely into sports as a kid and am specifically looking for super fun rom-coms in this area that'll give you all the feels! (No preference on which sports are featured!) Adult, New Adult, and YA welcome.
